It's been suggested by recent scholarship that it's more appropriate to use the spelling "Weckman", not "Weckmann", because that is how Matthias himself signed his name. For a scholarly discussion, see "Matthias Weckman (1616–1674) und seine Autographe", Concerto, no.88 (1993), 30–31. A Google search indicates far more results for Weckmann than Weckman; he is still much better-known as Weckmann; and finally, Grove lists him as Weckmann. The new edition of MGG has yet to release the W volume. See also de:Matthias Weckmann.
