Refimprove edit

Much of this article is cited as being from Santos' myspace page. Myspace is not a reliable source and needs to be replaced. The obvious choice, since the article borders on copyvio, is the real source http://www.imnworld.com/matthewsantos. (e.g. "Santos has won appreciation from a host of industry veterans and critics...", "The reincarnation will be featured on ...", etc.) This site, though, is only reliable for bare, uncontested facts, not the peacock stuff detailed below.

I'll give it a few days for "whoever" (heh) is editing this page to clean some of it up before I start to take it apart. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:13, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, this is Matthew writing you...are you still active on wiki? I've recently updated my page and somehow it got reverted back to the old, fan-made wiki page. I'm not sure how to revert back to the page I recently updated...any pointers? Superstar1982 (talk) 01:32, 24 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Peacock edit

Clearly page is being maintained by a very devoted fan, Santos' label or Santos. Much of what is here has to go. Here are a few of the more glaring problems:

fancruft, at best: "His musical influences range..." , "older brother (in a non-notable band), and a younger sister...studying abroad", open-mic hosting while in college, etc.

peacock: "...he developed an international following surrounding his intimate video performances on YouTube." (The near copyvio says "developed a following surrounding his intimate video performances that made the rounds on YouTube."[1] "International" sounds better, though.)

Etc. It goes on and on. One of the more troubling aspects is the sourcing. Some cites seem to be randomly placed. "featured on Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor album on the song 'American Terrorist.'" The cited source [2] does not mention Fiasco, the next source, a sentance or so later says "featured singing on Lupe Fiasco's debut album 'Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor' on the politically abrasive track 'American Terrorist.'" is clearly the source.

Actually, that brings up the next problem. Many of the sources are either entirely useless (blogs, myspace and such) or cannot be used for what they are citing (interviews can be cited for bare facts but not opinions, the labels site is similar). Applying verifiability and the demand for reliable sources will make this article a lot shorter.

website edit

http://www.imnworld.com/matthewsantos is Matthew Santos' page at IMN World. International Music Network would be http://www.imnworld.com. Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:44, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Booking edit

If you would like to post Santos' booking information, please do so at his website. Wikipedia is not a resource for conducting business. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:47, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Piano/guitar edit

From the cited source: "'Initially I started out as a 6-year-old kid fooling about the piano trying to figure out tunes I heard on the TV and radio,' Santos said in a recent interview. 'And then it turned into formal piano and then my brother got a guitar and I started fumbling around on his guitar and it turned out I basically learned a whole bunch of chords.'"[3] In the article, that became: "Santos started playing piano at age six and learned guitar at age fifteen."

"started ... fooling about" became "started playing"

"started fumbling about" became "learned guitar at age fifteen"

Essentially, he started playing around with the family piano and his brother's guitar when he was a kid. Mdsummermsw (talk) 14:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal edit

As a Crow Flies and Matters of the Bittersweet are little more than track listings. Per WP:MUSIC#ALBUMS "Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article or discography article, space permitting." - Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:08, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Support merger. Just like to say I appreciate you efforts to cleanup the article. -Eóin (talk) 21:44, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I support the merger. A tracklist table doesn't justify a separate article. Antnoah (talk) 16:54, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
