I will proceed with some additions: 1. his presence at various social events within the english kingdom 2. his acquaintance with various personalities from the political and religious scene. He met them, talked to them and listened to their opinions amongst which were grievences of the royal rule. So, we'd better see Paris's expressed ideas as the reflection of public opinion and not as mere prejudices.Ourania 16:15, 8 October 2006 (UTC)OuraniaOurania 16:15, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

When it comes to the sentence "...the Benedictine monastery of St Benet Holme at Trondheim", we have identified this monastery to be Nidarholm outside Trondheim in out Norwegian article. "St Benet Holme" seem to be an error in the original soruces where the two names seemed to have been merged. --FinnWiki 22:18, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

An important manuscript to add: Cambridge, University Library, DD.11.78 edit

This is the major surviving MS of the poetry of Henry des Avanches, a major literary figure of the 13th century and a court poet to Henry III. According to the leading scholarly article on it, below, the MS was compiled, owned and partly written by Matthew (of) Paris. (p. 353)

Anti-Semitic views edit

Hi there, it seems a bit of an omission that Matthew Paris' views on Jews are not included; for instance his credulousness regarding reports of child murders and support of acts of violence against Jewish communities accused of such crimes. While these are quite typical of religious figures of the time, who were increasingly active against Jewish, non-Christian people and practices, it seems rather amiss not to record these here. There are plenty of sources discussing these, especially from people researching Jewish history. Jim Killock (talk) 18:42, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yeah interesting content to include, do you have an online link that you can share? Danial Bass (talk) 19:49, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks - Nothing online but plenty of sections in books. I'll try to add something when I get time. Jim Killock (talk) 22:13, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
