one or two buildings of this name edit

In an edit summary, editor EurekaLott calls attention to 2 webpages. I see that "Mathou.htm" is a different building than "Matflo.htm", because the included maps point to slightly different locations. I wouldn't be sure from comparing the pictures alone, one is an end picture of a 4-5 story building, other is a front picture of a 5 story building. Reading either one of these Case Western Reserve web pages alone, including its "formal name" and "other names" sections, it would seem the given building has multiple names. One is known both as "Mather House" and as "Flora Mather House". The other is known both as "Mather House" and as "Flora Stone Mather House". Also I agree it is not entirely clear whether both are included in the Flora Stone Mather College Historic District.

There's been good faith editing by me and by EurekaLott and perhaps others, trying to state correct things, and I think there is nothing grossly wrong in the article. Clearly there exist one or more Mather Houses on the Case Western reserve campus, and it is highly reasonable to expect that one or both are included in the Flora Stone Mather historic district.

I think the citations can be improved, and all major questions can likely be answered by the NRHP nomination document for the Flora Stone Mather College Historic District. I'll make a request to the National Register for a free copy of that right now. --doncram 15:10, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

From what I can tell, the building that this article covers is on the north side of Euclid Avenue, and is within the boundaries of the historic district. The other Mather House was on the south side of Euclid, outside of the historic district. It was demolished several years ago as part of a University Hospitals expansion project. - Eureka Lott 15:14, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Okay, great. It seems to me reasonable to mention the former building in the article also, and to give a few facts such as its construction date and architect, if only to clarify vs. facts for the newer building. But however you like to do it, please do go ahead and adjust the article to conform to the facts you understand, apparently better than I do right now. You might check the coordinates, which I put in to point to one apparently existing building, obtained by me by using Google maps and zeroing in on a named building on the campus. I did request the historic district NRHP nomination doc and if and when I receive it, I will use it to add a bit to the article(s). Per a suggestion in the AFD discussion, I am not opposed to this article being redirected to the historic district article later, if there is a developed section there about the building and it seems appropriate to have coverage in just one place. Keeping at least a redirect is helpful for the Mather House disambiguation page. Thanks for your attention to this! --doncram 15:33, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I only just now received the requested hard-copy NRHP nom doc for the Flora Stone Mather College District. It is clear from that the 5 buildings in the district do NOT include the Mather House covered in this article and pinpointed by geo-coordinates in this article. Rather the 5 buildings are the cluster of old buildings: Mather Memorial building, the Harkness Chapel, Clark Hall, Haydyn Hall, and Guilford Hall, which can be seen as named buildings in Bing maps a little ways away.

So the identification of this building as a contributing one should be removed from the article, and a more generic historic site infobox or other infobox or no infobox should be used, instead of the NRHP infobox. --doncram 15:54, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
