Matha has a meaning of Mother also edit
The IAST of Matha is only given as मठ. However, Matha can also be written as माता. The root meaning of माता is given as Mother / Motherly love etc as per https://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A4%AE%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%A4%E0%A4%BE Need to check the differences in meanings. Maţha, Maṭha, or Matha? Move page? edit
The article is named Maţha, with a comma accent below the t. This is not correct: if the t is to have any diacritical mark at all, it should be a dot below: ṭ. However, I am not sure it needs any diacritical mark. I propose to move the article, either to Maṭha, or back to Matha, where it started. Any comments? Devadaru (talk) 15:17, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
On Wikipedia I have also seen this spelled muth. Is that an acceptable variant spelling or an error?
- It should be Maṭha (Latin letter t with dot below). Its better to remove the dot in the title, as search engines should be able to find "matha". However an IAST form can be included. 59.95.30.243 (talk) 05:59, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- Here in Shravanabelagola, Karnataka the Jain Math is known as a Math on all records I have seen, including public signage. prat (talk) 10:46, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
