The stamp image cannot be used as "Fair use". There is precedent of NOT using such stamp images in bio articles. Fair Use doesn't include such usage. I suggest finding an actual image or image of a statue of her. --Ragib 23:00, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Some confusion regarding Legacy edit

In the legacy section, it is mentioned that:

Quote:
The parallel Tamluk government incited open rebellion by praising her "martyrdom for her country" and was able to function for two more years, until it was disbanded in 1944, at Gandhi's request.

I do not quite understand this part - why was the Tamluk government disbanded at Gandhiji's request? Did the Tamluk government do something else that was wrong, or was Gandhiji opposed to Hazra being called a Martyr? --103.21.125.81 (talk) 15:22, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Gandhi asked the Tamluk government to disband at the end of the Quit India movement (or so says the wiki page on the Jatiya Sarkar). I always thought that Quit India was meant to carry on till the British left; in this case, Gandhi may have asked them to disband as a conciliatory gesture towards the British as the the British and Congress negotiated on the specifics of transfer of power. Early Life edit

Were there any "Gandhians" in 1905? Gandhi returned to India in 1915. If Matangini Hazra was active in 1905 that would've been as part of the Swadeshi Movement, though I haven't found any evidence in support of this. KropotkinSchmopotkin (talk) 11:16, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
