Examples are cited and most likely wrong

The article in its present for has a long list of example medications that for the most part are not supported by the sources, and are in fact contradicted by the sources. There seems to have been attempts to fix this in the past, but they were reverted, so I am going to present a case here before I fix them. (Though I suspect the reversions had something to do with the bad formatting used in the fix?)

The current list contains:

• β2-adrenergic agonists
• Cromoglicic acid
• Ketotifen
• Loratadine
• Desloratadine
• Methylxanthines
• Olopatadine
• Rupatadine
• Mepolizumab
• Omalizumab
• Pemirolast
• Quercetin
• Nedocromil
• Azelastine
• Tranilast
• Palmitoylethanolamide
• Vitamin D
• Bilastine

Of these, only the last, Bilastine, has a source, but that source seems to actually be talking about Vitamin D, though I can't read the entire paper as it is behind a pay wall. Most of the medications on this list are allergy medications, and I believe they were put here based on the confused assumption that all allergy medications are mast cell stabilizers, which is not true. The current first source lists many of these medications, but only Cromolyn (aka Cromoglicic acid), Lodoxamide, and Nedocromil are listed as mast cell stabilizers. A cursory look at some other sources [1] [2] [3] suggests that the list is in fact pretty short in terms of drugs, but that there are other compounds that also seem to stabilize mast cells.

The previous reverted fix listed: Cromolyn ( or cromoglycate) Nedocromil Ketotifen and additionally listed β2-adrenergic agonists: Salbutamol, and Methylxanthines: Theophylline

The addition of β2-adrenergic agonists makes some sense, I suppose, as I believe they are mast cell inhibitors, but the Methylxanthines makes me pretty sure that these last two categories were added based on the assumption that asthma medications were all mast cell stabilizers, which is also not true.

Generally I prefer not to do unilateral changes without dialogue, especially in areas that aren't my expertise, but given that nothing is sourced, and this article receives very little attention, I'm going to cut the list down to only those I can find sources for, and invite someone more experienced than I to expand upon that list if possible. naturalnumber (talk) 02:37, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

Why have you removed examples of Mast

The previous editor was wrong.

There is proof that Quercetin is a stronger mast cell stabilizer than sodium cromoglycate and there is proof of Desloratadine having mast cell stabilising properties.
