The use of bashi-bazouks by Ottoman army was abandoned by the end of the 19th century. The ethnic gangs formed by Greeks were always active at the region. Turkish counterparts were always at defensive and not supported by Ottoman government what so ever.Sndilek (talk) 08:40, 8 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
