Can anyone explain this? Is it because I am inexperienced? But I can see 13 separate occasions where references seem to have been made, apparently to books or articles by "Oates" and "Treisman", without any URL or ISBN number or any other information. Surely these are not acceptable references!PussBroad (talk) 14:02, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

@PussBroad: The ISBN numbers and other book details are at Media of Russia#Literature. In order to avoid repetition, the reference section only gives page numbers. PrimeHunter (talk) 19:13, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

A more "Western" media approach ... sources outside the official Kremlin stance.

That is much too tongue-in-cheek and self-reporting of the media itself to be taken seriously.

The idea of "an official Kremlin stance" has been outdated for decades. That depends on the political stance of the president currently in office. Many Russian government officials are widely quoted in the media expressing opinions differing markedly from those of Vladimir Putin on any particular issue of the day.

"Western" is a little bit of a code word in the Russian media for "liberal" or "leftist" (looking at the left side of the map); an outdated holdover from Western opposition to hardline communism during the Cold War.

The Russian press is rather outdated and overly "established," much the same as "Western" mainstream media, and the hidden political assumptions and pretexts are likewise outdated. 24.237.158.24 (talk) 04:36, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
