Merger with Hardboard

I would consider these two articles, although brief, to be rather segregated to one another. The unique name of masonite stems from the original construction methods and the person who invented them. The Watt article and Electricity are seperate, so should these two be. Jachin 05:34, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

Painting

There is no mention in the article for masonite as a convenient and inexpensive medium for paintings, compared to stretched canvas. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zigzag20s (talk • contribs) 14:48, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Use in theatre

In my (amature) experience, Masonite isn't used for building walls onstage, because it is is too heavy and not stiff enough. The most common material is thin plywood, or sometimes canvas stretched over a wooden frame.

Needed improvements

Need more history: 1. What were hardboard product properties like before Masonite- heavy paperboard? 2. Did Masonite Corp sell an untempered product in the early years? 3. What are process details of actual tempered & non-tempered products, and what were their properties? There are many patents with conflicting processes.

Then, a short version of this should go into hardboard. Many of the applications here are just hardboard applications, and should be moved there. 69.72.27.148 (talk) 10:44, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Portrait of William H. Mason

This portrait by W W Ouless is, according to the description on Wikimedia Commons, painted 1879 ('To H.W. Mason/with kind regards/from/W.W. Ouless 1879'). The inventor of Masonite seems to be born 1877, so obviously Ouless has painted another Mason. Boberger (talk) 16:52, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Problems with alternative names

"It is also called Quartrboard, Isorel, hernit, karlit, torex, treetex, and pressboard." 1. I'm not sure all of these exist, e.g. I can find almost nothing on "hernit" in a Google search. 2. I suspect most of them are trademarks, so they need an initial capital letter. 3. If they are trademarks, then it probably isn't the exact identical product, and we might need to explain what the differences are. Equinox ◑ 17:53, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
