PhD authenticity and Cambridge alma mater claim

There is a mention of Cambridge in alma mater. Please provide sources for the claim and she has indeed done PhD from University of Cambridge. Otherwise, please remove. --yh (talk) 12:28, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

A lot of references there now! --Khadar Khani (talk) 00:21, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
She has failed to prove her academic credentials and PhD in Lahore High Court [1] Since she could not prove her PhD, it should be removed wikipedia. As the only source quoted in the court of law was internet, this definitely means someone has been toying with this wikipedia article as well to add unauthentic information. Removing PhD claim and all related interview links.

LHC on Tuesday also expressed wonder over the combination of degrees – M.A. (English Literature) and Ph.D. in Political Science – earned by Maryam Nawaz. During the hearing, deputy attorney general Amir Rehman presented academic credentials of Maryam, but withdrew them after failing to answer a query whether the Ph.D. degree was actual or honorary. He said the details presented before the court were collected from the internet.

Dispute

I invite the IP user to discuss their concerns here. 331dot (talk) 10:30, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

The information that IP user is trying to add is overly detailed. A summary is already added and could be expanded a bit but we don't need chunk of copy paste from Nawaz_Sharif#2016 Panama Papers leak bio. --Saqib (talk) 13:03, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
you dont need to whitewash the article by removing this information. instead of removing everything that i put on the article you should make it slightly shorter — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.129.178 (talk) 14:24, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
Nothing to whitewash. This bio is written from a neutral point of view. The information that you adding is irrelevant here so better suits Nawaz Sharif bio and therefore it should stay away. --Saqib (talk) 14:38, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Why are details about Maryams property and Maryams statements irrelevant to Maryams article? To not include them is a whitewash — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.129.178 (talk) 15:21, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

So even though people reverted me, reported me and told me to discuss my edits, when I ask what is irrelevant about the content they cant respond? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.129.178 (talk) 07:11, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

It seems to me that the question has been answered above- but to state again, the article must be written from a neutral point of view, and adding in excessive detail about alleged wrongdoing that only peripherally involves her unbalances a neutral point of view. Please see the guidelines for writing about living people. The part you added seems to be more about her children than about her. 331dot (talk) 08:06, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
The subject was named in Panama paper leaks. A petition was filed against her but she was acquitted of charges. This summary is provided and is fair enough in my opinion. We don't need to go in detail per Wikipedia:Too much detail. --Saqib (talk) 08:19, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Maryam Safdar (Urdu: مریم صفدر‎; born 28 October 1973) better known by the name Maryam Nawaz Sharif (Urdu: مریم نواز شریف‎) is a Pakistani politician who is the daughter of Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and the First Lady of Pakistan Kalsoom Nawaz Sharif.

in the above introduction of the person named above it is said that the said person is a "Pakistani politician" which in fact is incorrect. the person in question is simply the daughter of the Prime Minister.

please have this introduction corrected. M Siddiqui (talk) 19:41, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

BBC 100 Women

@P.Marlow: this is concerning your edit [2]; are you aware that BBC's 100 Women mention is listed in many BLP's? and do you happen to know about this event Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/29 ? --Saqib (talk) 13:09, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

@Saqib: Nope. It is not listed in 'many' biographies of living persons. Specifically, it is mentioned in only 9 stub articles, all of which are of dubious notability. Even if it had been mentioned in more, it would still qualify for deletion for being an astonishingly low quality (how many times a source is mentioned is irrelevant to the point I was making, which is that your use of it appears promotional, and the original article list is neither notable nor an 'honour'). Honestly, though, I don't care about Maryam Nawaz. I could change it back (and improve this article), but given your edit history, you will change it back again most likely. You are one of the many reasons why Wikipedia is declining in quality. Clearly you're here to promote this 'political figure' to English language readers. Maybe she's paying you, maybe she isn't – either way you have no dignity or respect for the norms of Wikipedia. I hope you are proud of yourself.
Please do not falsely accuse me for being a paid editor or POV pusher. I have no issue getting rid of this BBC 100 claim but since this is verified via RS, i would like to hear what others say about removing it. Your comments sounds very rude, though! --Saqib (talk) 13:40, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Naming issue: Mariam Safdar should be mentioned in the first sentence in addition to Maryam Nawaz

Her legal name Mariam Safdar should be mentioned in the first sentence in addition to mentioning the name she is most commonly known by. This is in accordance with Wikipedia's guidelines on official names where relevant examples such as Bill Clinton and J. K. Rowling are mentioned. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Official_names#Valid_use_of_official_names "Where an undisputed official name exists: It should always be provided early in an article's introduction, bolded at its first mention and, where appropriate, italicized." Vikhtrrez (talk) 12:25, 27 July 2019 (UTC) Vikhtrrez

It's not our concern whether identity documents exist. There are plenty of reliable sources for their full names.  samee  converse  13:49, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
We have plenty of reliable sources for "Maryam Safdar" as well. One just need to do a quick Google search. --Saqib (talk) 15:18, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

Samee, I don't really understand what you're trying to say because of your curt responses. I've shown you that Wikipedia's guidelines suggest that the official name should be mentioned in the first line. I've proven to you through multiple, reliable sources that her official name is Mariam Safdar. If you are trying to suggest there can be multiple 'official' names, you are wrong. We do not have any reliable source that mentions her official name as Maryam Nawaz. Newspaper articles go by 'popular' names as opposed to official names. If you really have a reliable source for Maryam Nawaz, please share it as opposed to just alluding towards them. Please make your case clear if you truly want to achieve the 'consensus' you mentioned when you undid my changes. Vikhtrrez

Can we speak more about the alleged Maryam Nawaz corruption please.
