It is difficult to ascertain Marys maiden name. As she was illiterate miss spellings are common. references exist to Mary Broad,Braunt and other spellings.Ghostieguide 23:05, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

What is the source for her going to Portsmouth?

Was it not Plymouth?

Some of the dates are inconsistent.

In the section "Life":
Paragraph 2 -- "...they later had a son together called Emanuel on May 6, 1792."
Paragraph 3 -- "On March 28, 1791, William, Mary, her children and a seven-man crew stole one of the governor's boats."
Paragraph 5 -- "During the voyage back Mary's husband and children perished of fever; the younger child and husband in late 1791, the elder in May 1792."

a weird sentence

This paragraph seems to be a bit off, looks like something is missing between 'her oldest son Sam' and 'in Timor'.

After a voyage of sixty-six days, Mary, her children and the eight men reached Kupang where she was forced to leave her oldest son Sam in Timor, a journey of 5,000 kilometres. This extraordinary voyage became part of seafaring history, and has often been compared with William Bligh's similar epic journey in an open boat of only two years earlier, after the mutiny on the Bounty. Bligh's voyage had also ended in Timor. The trip involved navigating the then uncharted Great Barrier Reef and the Torres Straits.

Vandalism? Fiction?

I have removed a few sentences added by Hellwolf2391 last October. I don't know if it was vandalism or taken from a fictional account of the voyage, but in any case it isn't true. There wasn't a Sam Lily (there was a Nathaniel Lily who returned to England and was released along with the others) and nobody was shot.Southdevonian (talk) 11:20, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

New source added (May 2022)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have added a new source, that while self-published (I am not the author, but am reading the book) is a reputable source by a scholar of Cornish history. I will progressively be updating this entry as I read the book in the coming weeks.
