Please include some information about her techniques and preferred art medium(s)

edit

Some explanation and discussion of her favorite mediums and techniques in creating her artwork (goache, etc.) would be very appropriate here, and an article about such a famous artist seems to be seriously lacking in that nothing at all about this is mentioned. 172.10.238.180 (talk) 02:03, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Her Children

edit

Mary’s passion for painting children began at home, with her own two sons – Donovan, born in 1947 and Kevin, born three years later in 1950. Along with her cousins John Mayer, Dolly Parton, and Poncho Garcia.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.248.10.215 (talk) 07:28, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

a little more balance

edit

This article is hugely overbalanced for Blair's disney contributions. These were great, yes, but she is quite notable outside of her Disney work as well. I'll try to add some non-Disney content over the next few months. --Lquilter (talk) 16:34, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Picture needed

edit

Since Google is having a tribute to Mary Blair and this page is getting a lot more traffic I think someone should add a photo of Mary here. I just made this account just to do that but it turns out I can't upload any images yet. So I thought maybe someone else could do this? I found a nice photo at http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vwyj42CwnOw/TexxJJ_tOmI/AAAAAAAAARM/dPmr4e__pIA/s1600/Mary+Blair+01.jpg although I didn't check for any copyrights. Art needed

edit

It would be good if a few of Mary's art pieces could be added to the article by someone who is qualified to know. I can't say I have that knowledge. (Johnswolter (talk) 17:29, 21 October 2011 (UTC))Reply

Vandalism

edit

There is a persistent vandal who dont stop to change the article... the ip is 212.174.54.50 --Ncasolajimenez (talk) 23:21, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

More vandalism, of the form 'Make a blog post, add it to an articles External links'. The link is titled 'Mary Blair – The Art Cartoon Modern', edit is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mary_Blair&action=historysubmit&diff=456585132&oldid=456584050 Amusingly, the article is mostly a copy-and-paste of the wikipedia article. Anyone care to remove it? Article is locked, so it won't be me. --131.217.20.18 (talk) 05:09, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Now that the article is locked, can't fix the typo: "A doodle was created by Googlee on Friday, 21 October 2011..." --96.236.72.144 (talk) 06:43, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

According to IMDB's database and Wikipedia's article on her brother-in-law, Preston Blair. Preston Blair was born in 1908 and died in 1995, not as reported in this article, born in 1918 and dying in 1994. This statement, "She was the sister-in-law of animator Preston Blair (1918–1994)." needs to be further fact-checked or the dates of Preston Blair's birth and death need to be deleted from this Wikipedia page for probable inaccuracy.74.124.160.207 (talk) 11:47, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Google doodle

edit

Get that Google crap out of there. Only relevant for one day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JustinStew (talkcontribs) 12:52, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I often use the Google crap to promote the article by posting on my Facebook profile (wall), since there is no such thing as bad publicity. Gordo (talk) 17:14, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Google is becoming a venue where the styles of particularly prominent artists are memorialized before an exceptionally wide and diverse audience. Given that the number of people who view the art in that one day far exceeds the number who would ever see it in a museum or via any other venue, I think the Mary Blair Google Doodle is worthy of mention. 172.10.238.180 (talk) 04:22, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

edit

I have no knowledge of this person, but this is an inconsistency in Wikipedia - Please change the birth year of Preston Blair in this article on Mary Blair, because the Preston Blair page lists his birth year as 1908, not 1918:

FROM: ...Preston Blair (1918–1994).

TO: ...Preston Blair (1908–1994).

Fixed, thank you.Zidanie5 (talk) 17:17, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
