I agree that being the husband/wife of a notable person is not notable. However, being the spouse of a major political leader, such as a president, can be notable. (I don't know anything about Irish politics, but assume that the president there is a fairly major position.) Think, for example, of the first lady. Now, I'm not sure if the role of the husband of Ireland's president is like the first lady's role (i.e. public appearances, the face of a nation, etc.), or if it a totally obscure position, such that very few Irish people would know his name off-hand. But it seems to me like an issue to hash out a little before deleting - so I've removed the tag for now.--TheOtherBob 03:45, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
