WWII edit

The following was said in this lemma: He commanded Kampfgeschwader 4 (KG 4 or Bomber Wing 4) in the Battle of the Netherlands, but was shot down and captured by the Dutch on the 10 May 1940, during a successful attack on De Kooy airfield.

That was false. 'De Kooy' AFB was in the north of Holland and not attacked by KG.4.

Colonel Fiebig was shot down when he lead the initial attack on the Rotterdam-Waalhaven air strike by II./KG.4. Nearly the entire first wave was shot down by the Dutch Fokker G-1 fighter squadron that was stationed at Rotterdam-Waalhaven and scrambled on the very moment of the German attack. Fiebig and his crew - of the Stabsschwarm KG.4 - were one of the first to be downed. He was captured and lucky enough to escape expedition to the UK, a fate that around 1,250 German airforce and airborne members did not escape.

I have changed the lemma accordinglyGrebbegoos (talk) 12:23, 29 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Colonel Fiebig was lucky to escape - POV edit

What is your source that he was lucky? He would have probably survived in a POW camp rather than to be executed as a criminal.Xx234 (talk) 09:39, 3 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Knight's Cross edit

Pls see "redundant - the linked article says this and any wartime decorations are rarely for excellence in managing the stores" -- the descriptor is so generic as to provide no value to the reader. K.e.coffman (talk) 03:42, 28 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I disagree, providing brief information about the award is necessary to give it context. See, for example, Arthur Blackburn for an example with a different award. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 05:21, 28 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

How did he die ? edit

This article contains no information on how Martin Fiebig died. The date (23 October 1947) looks suspiciously similar to the dates of execution for various Nazi war criminals, as does the link on the bottom of the page to the Yugoslav war crimes trials. Is this an oversight or some sort of revisionist "soft concealment"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.72.67.102 (talk) 23:19, 9 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
