Can someone include more details on the proceedings of the mission, please?

This is such a simplified version and leaves out the actual blunders of Marshall. He failed to see how serious this war was for the Chinese people until after he left, brokered ceasefires whenever it looked like Chiang Kai Shek was about to wipe out the Communists in a BS attempt to preserve "peace", not knowing that A) There never was peace in China to begin with, even before the Japanese showed up, since 1911 due to the fall of the Q'ing dynasty + the ensuing chaos and B) both sides would clearly not rest without destroying the other. (American chauvinism of the time believed that things could be worked out with a vote and people holding hands if only these asiatic barbarians would do like they did in their fantasy version of American politics). That's like asking the North to give up the Civil War after winning Gettysburg and Vicksburg, or asking America to not hate the Soviet Union, except in this case they're neighbors/in a Civil War. And Chiang listened to Marshall, Communists survive to build more support, Chiang says "fuck it" to Marshall and fights the Commies, Americans pull their support, Commies win in a massive counterattack due to having 2 years of rest, recruiting, regrouping, acquisition of supplies from the USSR and rebuilding because of failed diplomatic negotiations by good old George. Now we can thank George for having Communist China to bitch about.

WikiProject Military history/Assessment/Tag & Assess 2008 edit

Removed Military History Tag as article is out of scope. This article is about a Diplomatic Mission, not a military campaign, unit, person, etc.... --dashiellx (talk) 20:18, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Improvement drive edit

This article seems very seriously underdeveloped. I'll try to work on it. First thing, as always for me, will be to standardize reference formatting etc. Then on to article development. ♦ Lingzhi.Random (talk) 13:25, 15 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
