Plan to revise article edit

The existing article is currently only rated a Stub Class article. The article lacks historical context as the changing traditions in marriage life largely relate to changing historical times, as the legal and social aspects of marriage conditions have changed over time. The article discusses the topic of "modern" marriage but it only addresses contemporary types of weddings, and does not delve into the larger aspects of marriage. I would like to add a more concrete timeline for the modern period being discussed and set it to encompass the time period from after the 1911 revolution to the present. There is a need for additional sections about the legal aspects of marriage, including the marriage laws, gender equality, parental involvement, and references to how Confucian ideology plays into marriage and the tradition of polygamy. The sections lack very much information and could likely be condensed into one section as types of weddings or marriages after addressing a section on the general concept of marriage and married life for both men and women. I would like to work on providing a more comprehensive introduction to be inclusive of the additional aspects of marriage, editing existing sections to add sources and additional detail, and adding more sections about marriage laws, gender equality, household hierarchy, ancestral worship, and statistics available on age of marriage, rate of divorce, use of matchmakers, and arranged marriages to help illustrate change in the modern period. I plan to revise this article using scholarly sources, such as Journal of Marriage and Family, Journal of Comparative Family Studies, and Women and Property in China, 960-1949, and The Politic of Marriage in Modern China. This contribution is a part of a class assignment for a History of Chinese Women Through Time course at Rice University, so I would appreciate any advice, constructive criticism, and tips as I work on this article!
