Take a quick look at this, which expressly references the light:

The sources indicate this was a big lifesaving service station edit

I think the article needs something about that. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 21:22, 4 April 2008 (UTC)StanReply

I agree. I meant to add something on it earlier, but forgot about it. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 22:57, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I added a paragraph about the life-saving station, and the lighthouse's subsequent role as a Coast Guard training station. How does it look? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:33, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good links. I can use this (or a variant) on some other life saving stations around the state. If one were to criticize, it would be that it is somewhat generic: I would suppose that what is missing is specifics about the activities and rescues here. But to do that, one would probably actually have to get into the book. Nice job. Thanks. 23:07, 5 April 2008 (UTC) Stan

still unable to get this link to work edit

This link;

I'm able to reach their server but not getting anything back..not even when trying the root address. If you clear your browser cache, Stan, I think you won't see it any longer. ⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 13:43, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/pubs/LightLists/V7COMPLETE.PDF Works for me every time. Is somewhat slow in loading, but its there. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 15:03, 20 September 2008 (UTC) StanReply
I still can't get it to work after switching computers & operating systems. Are any other editors out there getting it to work for them? I know of one other that can't get it to work for them. When I first placed the "dead link" comment this morning, I thought that they might have their server down for some reason but now I think there is some other kind of issue. Need others to try...⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 16:08, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Berean, not working NOW for me either. But this may be (I hope) a temporary problem. I would GO SLOW on deleting this link, as it is a fundamental one on the western Great Lakes, and its in every article I've been working on. Taking it out (or putting it back in) takes a lot of edits, and our time would be better spent elsewhere (assuming this corrects itself in a day or two). 7&6=thirteen (talk) 16:53, 20 September 2008 (UTC) StanReply
Oh, no. I don't want to delete the link..I want access to the file. I hope it is temporary. I think it was in your browser's cache since you visit it so often. If the pdf is in the public domain, I wonder if we could upload it at the Commons so it can be on our servers!..if we can get at it again. ⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 17:30, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Berean, I agree totally. It is a public document, subject at least to annual changes (if not mroe often). It should be downloadable, so if we could put it in the Commons, it could be a resource, and would not be subject to the (outwardly) arbitrary changes in websites that we've been experiencing from the USCG. Indeed, we would then have a more or less 'permanent link' and could just change the document as the situation arose. So it is a great concept. Of course, we are in the 7th District, and there are all those other districts around the country, but that is something that could be deal with later. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 18:10, 20 September 2008 (UTC) StanReply

The link is back up and running this morning. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 12:21, 21 September 2008 (UTC) StanReply

A technical issue edit

For some reason the columns under ==Notes==

are not even. Anybody have a cure? 7&6=thirteen (talk) 18:57, 22 December 2008 (UTC) StanReply

Which web-browser are you using? I don't see the issue here, but I can try other web-browsers when I get home later today. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:25, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Mozilla firefox. But it seems to have cured itself. Odd. Thanks. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 19:57, 22 December 2008 (UTC) StanReply
