Although the text could use refining most of what was said there was true, it seems as if the person who removed the vandalism didnt understand the details well enough. I'm going to revert it back and edit it. Please do not revert it without first posting here thanks. Nekolux (talk) 16:19, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject class rating

edit

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 10:23, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

:)

edit

I don't understand why this article was mooted to be deleted in the first place. Maris Stella is a good school. Zero (talk) 05:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wrong tone of voice!

edit

Guys, your enthusiasm and love for your school is commendable and touching, but please remember that Wikipedia is not an advertising medium or a directory, and you do not "possess" this article any more than anyone else. The tone needs to be kept encyclopaedic and neutral, and must not include "we" and "our" and "us". Thanks, Alarics (talk) 09:03, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't the Marist Creed be added into the article also? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.255.158.212 (talk) 14:51, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Adding a fact to Maris Stella High School in the timeline.

In 2004, on May 26, former principal Anthony Tan Kim Hock was sentenced to an additional nine months of imprisonment following his conviction on nine criminal breach of trust (CBT) charges. These charges involved approximately $67,000. This sentence came after Tan had already served a five-month jail term for embezzling around $68,000 from the school's chapel building fund in 2009.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Tan had used school funds to finance overseas trips and cover various expenses for his friend, Peter Lim, a freelance tennis coach. The charges against Tan included misappropriation of funds and the diversion of donations made by parents to the school.

District Judge Toh Yung Cheong, presiding over the case, noted that the funds misused by Tan could have been utilized for school programs that would have benefited the institution and its students. The judge emphasized that Tan had abused his authority by disregarding established procedures set forth by the school management committee to safeguard its finances.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Kevin Yong urged the court to impose a stiff sentence of six to nine months to protect the public interest and discourage individuals from misappropriating funds belonging to public institutions. Considering the multiple offenses committed over a span of five years, Judge Toh took into account a total of 11 other CBT charges amounting to $13,910. He emphasized the need to balance Tan's contributions against the harm inflicted and ensure an appropriate punishment for the crimes committed.
