This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because I added a lot of references to show that Marina DeBris is a fund raiser for environmental organizations and a social activist, in addition using art to raise awareness. Thus, this artist is an important and significant contributor to the fight against pollution. — Socialresearch (talk) 16:59, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Warning about reliable sources and notability

Non traditional sources of information

I hope editors will consider the non traditional sources before deleting them. I use those sources to show where DeBris's art has been, because she is a non traditional artist, with works displayed in non traditional venues, so I use non traditional sources. You've done a good job of finding sources, though most are either not reliable or mention the artist in passing. But some are very good, such as this: http://www.smdp.com/Articles-c-2011-08-05-72324.113116-Trash-becomes-art.html

I do suggest that you drop the argument that "non-traditional" people can have their notability established by "non-traditional" sources. You need to follow Wikipedia's rules about what sources are best (to establish notability) or acceptable (to establish facts, since as a particular art exhibit). If you don't agree with those rules, there are other places where you the rules are less onerous. (I don't want to discourage you from contributing to Wikipedia, particularly since you've worked so hard on this article, but Wikipedia has succeeded - so far - because it has held more-or-less to its rules as they became firmly established.)
