Etymology edit

Are we certain of the origin  ? Perhaps the name is an Anglicisation of e.g. (NL) "Marjolein" ... ? 84.92.56.32 (talk) 11:14, 15 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

People with the name Marilyn edit

This blind rv doesn't quite make sense. First off, there's no reason why the given name category should be taken off. Second, Marilyn (name) doesn't exist yet so it's pretty obvious why this page should list individuals with the name. Lastly, there is nothing in the MoS that suggests we are not supposed to list people with the same given name or surname as the dab term. Actually, there is. According to MOS:DABSUR we can include short lists of people with the dab name, but longer lists need to be broken off into a "name" article. I realize that the list as it currently stands is rather short, but if you check out All pages with titles beginning with Marilyn you'll see that this could easily get out of hand. In my opinion, it would be better to keep this page clear of any links that aren't commonly known simply as "Marilyn". SlackerMom (talk) 17:13, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
The current list isn't that long IMO. Though I vouch that we create the page first. How does that sound? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 17:27, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
That would be very industrious and forward-looking of you! I agree the current list isn't that long. I'm just heading off what I expect will eventually happen here, as I have seen links slowly added and added to this page. SlackerMom (talk) 17:42, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
So, how do you want to go about it? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 17:54, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm OK with leaving it as is for the moment, but let's just keep an eye on how long the list gets. If it starts to collect "too many" links, we'll need to break it off. SlackerMom (talk) 12:39, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
