Hi there

I have deleted what author of article said about the gift, the famous novel written by Larra, of spanish princess "Leti" to her beloved sweety little prince... I think that cannot be considered an influence: is more a fact of a stupid celebrity magazine than a thing to be in an article of a worthy enciclopedia. If that was an influence, please write there too that my brother bought to me the Larra journalistic articles in book the wondergul Austral Espasa edition (with prologue of Azorín). Point of view

The writer of the article is certainly correct in stating that Larra was a great prose writer, but the greatest of the 19th century?! Many would argue that Alas, with all his writings was the greatest, or another of the realist/naturalist writers. Also, I question the notion that he would be accepted as one of the greats in any culture or era. Larra does not capture the World Literature audience the way Cervantes or Lorca does; because of this use of peacock words, I have commented out the last paragraph. Prose writer

I might add the word "nonfiction" before "prose writer" and I heartily agree that Galdós, Unamuno, <<Clarín>> (Leopoldo Alas), Ganivet, Ortega y Gasset at least rival (if not eclipse)the writings of Larra. Additionally, you really can't talk about Larra without at least the mention of the influence of Montesquieu's Les Lettres Persanes (especially considering Larra's afrancesado status). You cannot obviouslly compare the "quality" of different writers, but it is out of the question that at least Unamuno and Ortega y Gasset belong to another completely different cultural context -they are not romantic/realist writers, as Larra or Galdós. That explains why he could be considered the "greatest writer" of the 19th, as somebody could think that the romanticism was the most important literary change of the century. --Oszalał (talk) 12:26, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
