That may be so in French, but you could find Dauphiness is the more common form in English. Remember Edmund Burke's famous quote! I have no objection to a redirect. PatGallacher 16:58, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have never once read Dauphiness in an authoritative English history book of biography. Google gives 24,000 results for Dauphiness and 6,190,000 for Dauphine. One does not say Tsaress, one says Tsaritsa or Tsarina, neither does one say "Marchioness of Pompadour" but "Marquise de Pompadour" - In short, when pronounceable one generally uses the correct native form even in English. Wikipedia also seems to follow this rule see: Marie-Josèphe of Saxony and Marie Antoinette. Incidentally, my English spell checker has just picked up Dauphiness and passed Dauphine! in France she was known as Dauphine Victoire..so should be renamed as Duchess Victoria/Victoire of Bavaria? LouisPhilippeCharles (talk) 20:48, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
