Marco Lusini on the Italian Wikipedia

edit

Hello there. Having founded this page here at the Anglophone Wikipedia, I've tried to create a page for Marco Lusini over at the Italian Wikipedia, with the help of a colleague using the Wikipedia User name of LallyD. Unfortunately, users there have repeatedly deleted the page, and since suspended our accounts on there, for reasons that they have not made particularly clear. Is there anyone who would be able to create a Lusini page over at the Italian Wikipedia using information translated from this article ? Notability and POV

edit

I've added Notability and POV templates to this article for the following reasons:

  1. Notability: the article doesn't list any significant artwork, awarding, prize, permanent exhibition in museums/collections, whatever reference to any primary production of this artist who makes him notable. All you can read are just quite generic sentences about unspecified "collaborations and friendships" with members of the "city's cultural life", i.e. also within a very delimited local scope. Why this artist shall be considered notable, if not even one of his significant artworks is mentioned and if his activity didn't reach at least "national" notability? Where is the information about his most successful/significant artworks? How can a reader understand why is this artist notable and what the characteristics of his art are?
  2. POV: half the article is a quotation of enthusiastic comments, but it's a specific point of view of two specific people, who were by the way also close personal friends of the artist himself. Not exactly the kind of objective evaluators, despite their personal authority. And about the contents of the quotation, again we're presented with quite generic, celebrative sentences but nothing sound about the reasons for his notability.

By the way, the article was deleted from it.wiki exactly for the reasons above (I'm an admin on it.wiki, I was one of the two admins who deleted that article). Even if translated into italian, its current contents are widely below the minimum notability standards required on it.wiki, at least in the form the article is written here. The reasons for the deletion were made clear to the writer above in the "Admin's service page" of it.wiki. --L736E (talk) 15:51, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello there L736E, and thank you for bringing the issue to the talk page, where it can be discussed in a civil manner. First and foremost I will admit that this article is hardly FA quality, and is far from the best that Wikipedia has to offer. But in my view, that doesn't mean that it should be deleted, as has happened over at the Italian Wikipedia page. In fact there are many, many articles here on Wikipedia with no referencing at all, and yet no one seems to be threatening those with deletion; in contrast, this article cites one of Italy's foremost art critics, one of its foremost poets, and an academic journal. Surely, that such notable figures discuss his work is firm evidence that Lusini is himself a figure of no small significance ? He had exhibitions internationally, many of which were covered in the press, and there are pieces of his work in many galleries across the world. Regarding the second point, that of POV, I will concede that the information currently in the article is from sources that are favourable to Lusini. But they are nevertheless significant figures, and should not be dismissed out of hand. Besides, their comments are not simply mindless praise, but a favourable critical analysis of his work. Please, rather than just calling for the article to be deleted, allow it to be improved, and enhanced, with further referenced information. Ethan Doyle White (talk) 16:15, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
