Use of the term 'edition' edit

Lovely to see so much work going into this article at the moment, @पाटलिपुत्र. You're speaking of each manuscript as an 'edition', but I think this is a bit idiosyncratic. As edition (book) explains, the term 'edition' is usually used of printed books. There is no sense in which there was a 1222 edition of the Maqāmāt followed by a textually distinct 1237 edition. Instead, we have two individual manuscripts of the work which happen to have been made in 1222 and 1237. When talking about manuscripts, we normally talk about a manuscript being a 'copy' rather than an 'edition' of the text. So I suggest we rephrase titles like '1222 edition (BNF Arabe 6094)' in the format 'BNF Arabe 6094 (1222 CE)' (with corresponding changes in the main text). How does this sound? @Alarichall:Fine with me. Please feel free to make the changes. Thanks! पाटलिपुत्र (Pataliputra) (talk) 16:23, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Cool, thanks :-) By the way, I will also where possible be putting manuscript shelfmarks more consistently into the format city-library-shelfmark. This is a common scholarly convention and helps the general reader to understand what can otherwise be quite cryptic shelfmarks. Alarichall (talk) 11:44, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
PS I've also integrated the great material you have under ===Illustrated manuscripts=== into https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminated_manuscript#Greek_Europe_and_the_Islamicate_world, which is very weak on Islamicate material. I wonder if it would make sense to make that material more concise in Maqāmāt al-Ḥarīrī, and wikilink to the more general article? Alarichall (talk) 11:56, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
