Talk:MapleStory game issues

Latest comment: 17 years ago by AOL Alex in topic Internet Explorer

It's good that this came off the main page but the next step is to delete it entirely

it's awfully crufty, not to mention useless info

and technical problems are few and far-between in maplestory. you're being both nit-picky and overeager to pour information into the maplestory articles. There should be one page for maplestory, not a category! It's a game, a single piece of software! The monster list is pretty useless too, but I don't dare confront it (yet) because of the enormous effort that obviously went into it. --Froth 05:02, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The monster list is part of the wikibooks page, so don't worry about that. Bugs in this game are fairly rare, however, some of the stuff on this issues page is (relatively) unique to MapleStory. For example the keyboard PIN system. This section in general has gotten bloated, but I don't feel its a complete waste. I would also suggest that World of Warcraft is just a game. According to their page, they have 6 million players worldwide. According to the MapleStory page they have 45 million (that number should probably be verified.....) though even if its 1/10th of that its still a significant game. -- Prod-You 05:47, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

'useless' info edit

is that the point? an encyclopedia is supposed to be encyclopeidec(sp?). In a convential set of books data is omited due to size (and weight) concerns noone would buy a set of books weighing in at over a ton. and finding specific information would be a pain at best. But an online information source doesnt have that issue. searching is done by querying the database, and most browsers can further search for keywords and phrases on individual pages.

there is no such thing as useless information, merely infomration that isnt relative to your current intrests. If its correct keep it. This is supposedly an informational resource and i defy you to justify the removal of any information here that is correct, in this article or any other.--24.150.37.198 03:57, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Uh...what? edit

The open-channels are different in each server, and it changes channels irregularly over time. Wizet has yet to find a solution to this strange glitch and always returns soon after server checks and patches.

It was later revealed in the hacking communities that this was, in fact, not a glitch, but rather an attempt to promote chaos by a hacker. Using an advanced vacuum hack, they were able to move all the non-playable characters (NPCs) in the game into the sauna, causing anyone to enter the sauna to instantly become overloaded and disconnect. The hacker revealed himself to go under the alias of "NoobNotFunny" and announced publicly the servers and channels he targeted next.

This is contradictory.--70.25.138.179 20:40, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Auto-clicker edit

It was at one time common for players trying to enter a PQ (Party Quest) to use an auto-click program (or "AC"), but with the recent implementation of nProtect GameGuard into certain versions of MapleStory, the use of auto-click programs has become significantly less common.

Despite this information, ACs have drastically resurfaced after the introduction of Ludibrium PQ, and have almost become commonplace. I would assume someone came out to bypass the change in GameGuard implemented to make a new one, much to the dismay of us legit players like me. --musicman2059 00:18, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scamming edit

Should we split the scamming section into different subsections? eg. "Drop games", "Guild scam" ect Minpolik 10:49, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Internet Explorer edit

Added the fact that Macintosh computers cannot access the global sites. --ÆAUSSIEevilÆ 21:04, 19 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's why the system requirements have mentioned that this is a Microsoft Windows operating system-compatible game. --AOL Alex 23:01, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Contradictions ahoy! edit

Trade hack existed in gMS beta but has been patched permanently. Inside the trading window, when a player (Player A) puts up an item that he/she wishes to trade with, the trade hack will move the item to the other player (Player B). Then Player B cancels the trade and receives Player A's item without paying anything. Player A loses the item and wonders what happened to the item.

  • A note on Trade Hack

As stated in the Summon Hack section, Trade Hack is once again performable through more advanced packet editing. It is not patched as has been stated.

Oh, this passage makes my brain hurt. Also, should we really be listing the names of various vacuum hacks?

Technicly, with packet editing everything is possible. you can change your own level from 1 to 200 in a second if you know what you are doing. All the known packet edits listed above are still working as of today (GMS v.0.30). Packet editing is 100% illegal and unlike regular hacks which will get your account banned, if your'e caught packet editing you will be IP banned from maple for life and wizet has the right to sue you and track you by your phone number and adress. also, if you live in USA (wizet's servers location) theres a small chance you will get fined. most packet editors doesn't get fined or sued, just IP banned but the risk is heavy. However, GMS (Game Masters) can detect packet editors with their packet detectors. they can't actually detect hackers but they do know when 5 10% scrolls and above works one after the other or when too many monsters are in one map.

And I have to wonder what was buzzing through some 12-year-old's head when he cooked up this monstrosity. Tony Myers 06:18, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Packet Editing edit

Anyone know what packet editing hack can do. The only one i know to exist is the MP hack. Also does anyone know how legal or not it is. Minpolik 00:43, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I lol'd at the whole thing, especially the packet editing TECHNICALLY U CAN DO NETHING.

Replace it with 1 paragraph identifying MapleStory as an MMORPG and include a screenshot.

Most regions do not have IP blocking edit

I played MapleSEA from North America and it works fine.
