Highway Safety Foundation

Over half of this article is about the Highway Safety Foundation, only incidentally relevant to the town of Mansfield by virtue of being located there. Matter about the Foundation ought to be split off into a separate article. Jm546 21:36, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

Central Highlands

Mansfield lies in a distinct geographic area referred to as the Central Highlands. I believe that Mansfield sits at a higher elevation than any other major Ohio city. One of the highest points in Ohio, except for Campbell Hill northwest of Columbus.

  • Logan County is the highest county in Ohio (or so the sign says), so Bellefontaine is the highest city. At 13,000 pop, I suppose your definition of "major" may make a difference. --Tysto 17:52, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Campbell Hill lies within the city limits of Bellefontaine, so technically Bellefontaine is at a higher elevation. Frankly, I'm not sure either Mansfield or Bellefontaine qualify as "major cities", yet both are indeed cities. So there's really no way to justify the claim, unless one tries to link elevation with population (e.g. "Highest Ohio city with a population greater than 50,000"). This strikes me as a bit of a useless exercise. -- SwissCelt 13:57, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Climate

I added the Climate section for Mansfield, Ohio. There are two references that are in the climate section with all of the weather averages and numbers in them. If there are any numbers that are off by a hair, please anyone can make corrections to them or they can be updated when new averages come out in 2010.--OHWiki 01:21, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

I improved the climate Infobox, its looks much better this time around, I improved all of the numbers in the infobox.--OHWiki 06:39, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Sister cities

Is Mansfield, Massachusetts really a sister city of Mansfield, Ohio, no I don't think so because I don't find any proof. I searched yahoo for a reference and I can't find any proof that Mansfield, Massachusetts is a sister city for Mansfield, Ohio. Mansfield, Massachusetts is within the United States of America. Cities within the United States do not twin with other cities in the United States. Mansfield, England and Tamura, Fukushima, Japan are true sister cities for Mansfield, Ohio.--OHWiki 02:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Mansfield/Mehock Relays

The article needs a paragraph about these well-known track and field meets held each April beginning in 1927. I may make a stab at a first draft, but others should have good personal knowledge. CoppBob 14:40, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Please keep the 1927 date of origin. That's from the history on the relays web site and from my personal recollection as a resident of Mansfield at that time. CoppBob 03:02, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
That is very interesting stuff, please keep me up to date on that.—OHWiki 02:26, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

History

I added Mansfield's history article. JeffreyAllen1975 20:00, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Could you make an entry here or maybe a seperate entry on the Ohio Brass Company?

Can anyone add a mention of Martin Yant and Mansfield corruption?

I feel we need alot of additional information on the history of the city. If anyone can help out, that would be great.---OHWiki 03:08, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Cityscape

"Cityscape - This section can be added later," according to the note above.

What happend to the three paragraphs that I completed during the past year? Was there a discussion of the deletion in these Talk pages? What was the rationale for the deletion?

Several persons have requested improvements about history in the article, and the deleted paragraphs tried to meet that request. CoppBob 20:47, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

As far as the history section goes, I was able to improve a little bit of the history section while the rest was deleted because it had been copyed from the city's website by another user a year or two back. Some of that copy edit stuff like on the city's economy I was able to turn around, rewrite and improve while the other copy edit stuff was deleted.---OHWiki 03:39, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

My paragraphs about Woodland and Boulevards neighborhoods in Cityscape were my own work, and represented many years of my personal attention to Mansfield history (since 1926, in fact) and represented also many hours of personal research in the John Sherman history room of the library. I'm disappointed to see them so casually deleted without either discussion or reason. Since you took them out, how about re-insdrting them again, or telline me why they are inappropriate. Will this happen next to my own original pargraph on railroads in Mansfield and on history of the Lincoln Highway there? Thanks. CoppBob 04:12, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

No they will not, they are very important to the article.---OHWiki 20:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
I readded the Cityscape section back in the article. It got deleted by User:63.172.200.217 (talk) on 19:46, 6 August 2007 for no aparent reason. I apologize for that---OHWiki 20:21, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
