Freddy Roach?

Shouldn't some credit of the surge of Manny's success be given Freddy Roach? Under his tutelage he won all of his big fights. Maya Levy talk 04:18, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

I agree, there should be a well developed Roach-Pacquiao section ^ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wildwilly3232 (talkcontribs) 21:35, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Pacquiao conditioning

Can anyone shed some light about his body conditioning with him being hit/tap with a "yantok"/ stick (lightly and repeatedly). Do we have a medical explanation about this or any article on the net? Do we have any account on pacman's camp explaining about this kind of conditioning?

Pacquiao himself stated that the reason why he tap/hit his body, most notably the muscled area of the abdomen is to numb the pain which he feels from the blows of his opponents. It's a brutal training regiment. Imagine yourself getting hit repeatedly by a stick for hundreds of times per training session. That has to hurt. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.138.162.6 (talk) 23:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

About the trilogy with Erik Morales

Hi everybody. I suggest that the sections about Pacquiao's fights with Erik Morales and the subsequent fights within their trilogy to be merged into one section. The article looks a bit messy with so many subsections. I hope anybody would notice this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luisztdt (talkcontribs) 07:05, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Pacquio vs. Hatton

I Personaly think that the article about the fight with Hatton is a mess and needs to be cleaned up. Its simply been added to over the last month as the fight has materalised and is now just a mess of random purse figures and quotes. Does anyone agree with this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom513 (talkcontribs) 00:26, 7 February 2009 (UTC) The article should be modified to state: At the bell, Hatton seemed to have re-grouped, only to get knocked out by a well timed left hook at 2:59 into the second round by the unrelenting southpaw. Hatton lay motionless for over a minute on his back and had to be examined at a nearby hospital as a precaution. Lakingpinas (talk) 05:55, 4 November 2009 (UTC)lakingpinas

Nicknames

{{editsemiprotected}} Please change Manny Pacquiao's nickname from The Mexi-cutioner to The Mexican Assassian as that is his nickname , can someone edit this. Also apperently another of his nicknames is Payday, I have tired to put this up but it has been erased everytime. Could someone put that up also?

Not done: {{edit semi-protected}} is not required for edits to semi-protected, unprotected pages, or pending changes protected pages.   Note: The reason your edits were erased was because you did not provide any citatons, as this is kind of dubious. I think that part of the article is a bit of a joke, and gives the reader no idea as to what the fight was actually like - Pandaros (talk) 13:46, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Not champion in 5 weight classes but 6!!!

Manny Pacquiao tied Oscar Dela Hoya's 6 division titles in 6 weight divisions with his win over ricky hatton. As you've heard michael buffer before the match with ricky hatton, pacquiao is a 5 time world champion in 5 weight classes. After the win, it's his 6th. And he broke a record by having 4 linear championships in 4 weight classes. So Please edit the 5 time champion of 5 weight classes to 6 because it is. Flyweight, Super Bantamweight/jr.Featherweight, Featherweight, Super Featherweight/jr. Lightweight, Lightweight, and Super Lightweight/jr. Welterweight. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by W2nhbky2j (talkcontribs) 03:58, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I second this. It's a clear fact that Pacquiao is a champ in 6 weight divisions which is a tie to DLH' rcord.
I also support this. change it and fix it.24.139.77.79 (talk) 21:16, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

A Pacquiao victory would give him a world title in a record-tying sixth weight division -- flyweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight. - http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=4118598
Pacquiao has won titles as a flyweight (1998), junior featherweight (2001), featherweight (2003, THE RING), junior lightweight (2008), lightweight (2008) and junior welterweight (2009, THE RING), which equals Oscar De La Hoya’s six-division record. - http://www.ringtv.com/blog/1263/pacquiao_seeking_title_in_record_seventh_division/

He's a boxer, not an actor or singer or underwear model

That he's dabbled in singing and acting shouldn't be in the first sentence or even the first paragraph. In terms of effort put in and in terms of importance in him becoming known, those two things do not compare to his boxing. If he does a Calvin Klein ad, shall we then start refering to him as a "Boxer, actor, musician, and underwear model"? Gronky (talk) 19:02, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Maybe, when he gets serious in those ventures. But you're right. Alphapeta (talk) 07:28, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Moved section

I just would like to request an immediate revision of an error in the introduction of Manny Pacquiao’s Wikipedia introduction page.

In acknowledging the championship accomplishments of a boxer, the titles that should only be counted are the lineal championships, Ring Magazine championships, WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO world championships and nothing else. The IBO world championship should not be mentioned because it is not an official boxing sanctioning organization included in the “major four,” which is the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO boxing sanctioning organizations.

It should be immediately corrected that Pacquiao is a multi-weight division champion in six weight divisions and not only five which is mentioned in the introduction of Pacquiao’s Wikipedia page.

As noted in other official publications, the championships that Pacquiao won are the following:

1. WBC Flyweight World Championship (Lineal Championship) 2. IBF Super Bantamweight World Championship 3. Ring Magazine Featherweight World Championship (Lineal Championship) 4. WBC Super Featherweight World Championship (Ring Magazine & Lineal Championship) 5. WBC Lightweight World Championship 6. Ring Magazine Junior Welterweight World Championship (Lineal Championship)

I hope the errors in the introduction get corrected right away and have Pacquiao written as the first Asian boxer and the second boxer in the world to win six world titles in six weight divisions. Pacquiao should be listed in the “list of boxing sextuple champions” together with Oscar De La Hoya and not on the “list of boxing quintuple champions.” It should also be mentioned that Pacquiao is the only boxer throughout history that has won four lineal world championships in four different weight divisions. This is the most important accomplishment of Pacquiao because the lineal championship is the most valued championship because it represents “the man, who beat the man, who beat the man, who beat the man, who beat the man …” —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dexros (talkcontribs) 00:07, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Another miscellaneous about Pacquiao

Hi, I also thinks that he must be granted as the first former, present or future world Flyweight champion in the history that defeated a former, present or future world Middleweight champion. People is forgetting this prowess.

Why the article says that he is just a 5th champ in 5 divisions? He is 6th in 6th different weights. Please, fix that error. 24.139.77.79 (talk) 23:25, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Why the editor of this article does not answer?

Because "the editor of this article" does not exist. Please reread the principle this encyclopedia runs on, that it is " the encyclopedia that anyone can edit". Britmax (talk) 20:33, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Death of Pacquiao's manager, Rod Nazario

I think, the following must be added to the article: Justice Minita Chico-Nazario (San Miguel, Bulacan) holds the distinction of being the first woman Justice in the Sandiganbayan and its first woman Presiding Justice. Married to businessman Rodolfo Nazario, she and her children Roderick, Rommel, and Karen presently reside at 299 Gov. A.Santos, BF Homes, Sucat, Parañaque, Metro Manila. Nazario's husband Rod, age 74, former Manny Pacquiao manager, passed away on September 24, 2009 after having undergone by-pass operation in 2006 and underwent chemo-therapy for his lung cancer.[1][2] Pacquiao fought under Nazario from 1995 until 2005. Rod Nazario gave Pacquiao the latter’s big break in the United States in 2001 when he negotiated that “Pacman” fight in the undercard in an Oscar De La Hoya headliner at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.[3] Rod Nazario also had four children from his first wife, Emenita – Roberto, Raymundo, Dedet, and Myra.[4] --124.106.81.204 (talk) 09:22, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Under Pacquiao vs. Hatton heading: It states "At the bell, Hatton seemed to have re-grouped, only to get knocked down for the third time 2:59 into the second round, awarding Pacquiao the win by KO."

At the bell, Hatton seemed to have re-grouped, only to get knocked out by a well timed left hook at 2:59 into the second round by the southpaw. Hatton lay motionless for over a minute on his back and had to to be examined at the hospital as a precaution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lakingpinas (talkcontribs) 16:30, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Pacquiao only won 4 division (major) world titles

Pacquiao only won 4 titles. His featherweight title should not be included as it was only The Ring title. The ring is not considered a Major title only WBC, WBA, IBF & WBO. Don't push for a 4 division world titlist. I just had to put this since a lot of people are adding Pacquiao as a Major titlist in the list of quintuple & sextuple section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.203.85.226 (talk) 14:33, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Crime rate

Should we put the fact that there is virtually 0 crime rate in the Philippines when there is a a major Pacquiao fight? -- User:Ryomaandres 06:41, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Rumours shouldn't be allowed

Please do not posty absolutely anything about the rumours about Pacquiao's possible affair with Krista.

"Manny Pacquiao is currently linked "romantically" to Krista Ranillo, one of the actresses in Pacquiao's movie Wapakman. They insist that they're only friends and Pacquiao was interviewed by ABS-CBN about the matter, and Pacquiao just replied with "No Comment".

There still so much over exaggeration and reactions from the media that we cannot clarify which source is the most genuine and formal one to put in this article. For this time being we'll wait and we won't write anything about that alright?

And one last thing when you write articles please provide "references" of where you obtained that information from. Otherwise it will be marked unrelevant and will be deleted.Blueknightex (talk) 22:58, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
