Manmohan Singh was succeeded by Amitav Gosh as Governer of India in 1985. However the profile is for incorrect Amitav Ghosh. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amitav_Ghosh is a writer, whereas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amitav_Ghosh_(banker) is the banker who replaced Manmohan Singh. Second term: 2009–2014

edit

The summary of the second term(2009 elections) is stated as given below in the second section in this paragraph 'Strong showing in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh helped the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) form the new government under the incumbent Singh...'

Here are the actual seats won comparison in terms of 2004 > 2009.

Andhra Pradesh - 29 > 33

Rajasthan - 4 > 20

Maharashtra - 13 > 17

Tamil Nadu - 10 > 8

kerala - 3 > 13

West Bengal - 6 > 6

Uttar Pradesh - 9 > 21

It is abundantly clear that the states mentioned under 'strong showings' are incorrect. The phrase should be re-worded to

'Strong showing in Rajasthan,Kerala and Uttar Pradesh helped the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) form the new government under the incumbent Singh...' Sukisen (talk) 08:31, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

in all the line referring him as Mr. Singh, it should be replaced by Dr. Singh Pramit.b.dutta (talk) 17:17, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mistake in infobox

edit

The infobox lists Mr. Singh's Rajya Sabha tenure as ending on 3 April, 2024. Shouldn't this date be removed until he actually leaves office, considering that he can still die or resign in a one-month span? Goodboy9796 (talk) 02:19, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edit request, Silent PM label

edit

While this label is perhaps less prevalent in the online news media, I strongly recommend the “Public Image” section include a line or two on his being labelled the “Silent Prime Minister” by opposition parties.

The term has a strong presence colloquially and in informal online conversation. Singh even mentioned it himself in a speech in 2018 — https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/called-silent-pm-but-i-was-never-afraid-of-media-manmohan-singh/amp_articleshow/67153504.cms ArvasuK (talk) 09:22, 16 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
