Inkato.com
An anonymous user has some issues with the link to Inkato.com. It's very ad-heavy and, while there are some articles about Mankato-specific events, they are very minor and are probably paid ads anyways. Linkspam vandalism
Several times in the recent past an anonymous user or users has added linkspam to a Mankato- based web design firm. Most recently such a user actually deleted the official website for the City of Mankato and substituted this same commercial website.[1] This is not merely linkspam; it is vandalism. Editors to this article should watch for repeated attempts to misuse Wikipedia in this fashion. Kablammo 01:35, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

- Their heavy-handed attempts to use Wikipedia for commercial purposes likely are doing them more harm than good. The deletion of a link to city webpage in that city's article, and substitution of a business webpage link in its place, does not seem likely to be effective marketing. - well, according to the historical sources the name Mankato means Blue Earth in Dakota Sioux language, and the Mdewakanton Santee Dakota chief who signed the treaty in Washington in June 1858 and later died fighting the army during the battle of Wood Lake in September 1862 was named Mankato or Blue Earth. Tropical???
I have read in a few places, here's one for example [[2]], that Mankato has some kind of climate anomaly caused by hot springs and that some neighborhoods in Mankato have never experienced temps below 70 degrees F in the winter; if this is true then it should definitely be in the article. Academic Institutions
The section on Mankato's academic institutions is not written in a prose style, as is recommended by Wikipedia's manual of style. I'd recommend re-writing the section as prose, with brief descriptions of each institution to illustrate how they differ from one another (public 4-year vs. private religious school vs. vocational). Employment numbers
I've been researching for my page Immanuel St. Joseph's and employment numbers listed on the Mayo Health site cite employment numbers of 3,302 employees versus the 2,223 listed in the Economy - Top Employers section. Kiwanis Holiday Lights
I have removed mention of Kiwanis Holiday Lights again as WP:OR. There are plenty of results in Google, but they're all social media or advertising. What we need are reliable, third-party published sources stating that this is a major yearly event. (I added a national news story about the Vikings training camp, so that entry looks good.) Notable people
Per WP:CITY (article guidelines at WP:CITSTRUCT) and WP:NLIST, every entry should meet WP:PEOPLE or one of our related notability guidelines. Usually, this means a pre-existing article on Wikipedia, obviously including the association or relationship with Mankato. Alternately, a reliable, third-party published source about the subject—meaning, not about something else and merely mentioning the subject—and association or relationship with Mankato is typically acceptable. - Your idiotic removal of these people is flabbergasting. Notability doesn't REQUIRE individual articles, and the wiki pages which were referenced were more than substantial. I'm going to add them again later when I have time. I'm sorry that you're jealous of these folk's accomplishments, and that you'll never amount to anything, but stop being petty. - Please take a moment to read the policies and guidelines above. We need a standalone article making that connection, or we need a reliable, third-party published source about the subject making that connection, preferably both. There is precedence for inclusion without an article as long as we have a watertight source, but that is the bare minimum. I checked both articles about the bands when first added here and they simply don't meet those requirements. (The closest we have is a dead link about the band, not separate articles about each individual that we would need. Please note that notability is not inherited.) If these claims are as trivially easy to source as you claim, then kindly find a source, because I've looked and haven't found anything. Woodroar (talk) 13:52, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
Major events
If there is going to be a section on Major Events, it should be about the Mankato Executions, not the mundane and trivial "Minnesota Vikings summer training camp".Royalcourtier (talk) 19:24, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- It's not exactly clear in the article, but the "Major Events" section is meant for current, recurring events. I'm also indifferent to events like training camps, but the media is not, and we need to follow their lead. You'll find that nearly a quarter of the "History" section is devoted to the executions, which is probably about right. Woodroar (talk) 02:34, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
