The mangrove finch is part of the family Emberizidae or the passerine family. This family of birds includes sparrows, however, the mangrove finch is not closely related to such. Known for short beaks, a bouncing flight, and a small stature, the mangrove finch can also be classified as a Fringillidae bird.

This is a very poor description and the taxonomy verges on nonsense. I'll add a proper description section if nobody else does innotata(Talk | Contribs) 17:45, 12 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
