delta goodrem

edit

Delta Goodrem does not play the daughter in this movie. It is Amanda Seyfried, who also starred in Mean Girls. This is a very big flaw in this article. Tweelee (talk) 02:24, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Delta Goodrem, continued

edit

While all instances of Delta Goodrem's name in the Plot and other sections have been corrected to Amanda Seyfried, in the sidebar and the introduction that begins the article, her name is still listed...looking at the previous comment in this Discussion, it seems that Delta Goodrem's name has been in this article since January, or at least that someone has continuously vandalized it since then. This is a GLARING factual error that needs to be corrected...once again, NOT Delta Goodrem, whoever she may be, it is AMANDA SEYFRIED. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.86.162.21 (talk) 01:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

The same vandal has been putting in references to songs that didn't appear in the movie, like "Candle in the Wind" and "The Bitch is Back" - please be vigilant, everyone! CNash (talk) 10:55, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Karaoke

edit

I just saw this movie and it had karaoke-style song-texts along the bottom. I have never seen this on a movie. I don't know know if this addition is unique, rare or standard on this type of movie. Should it be mentioned that some releases of the movie are set up this way? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.126.109.131 (talk) 14:54, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Domestic Gross?

edit

The opening paragraph states it's the highest grossing musical internationally, but is followed by a sentence citing Grease as the highest grossing musical 'domestically'. I assume that this refers to the US. But am I correct in saying that Wikipedia needs a country neutral tone, so using Domestic gross is a mistake? I didn't want to remove it without checking. Or it could be changed to simply refer to the appropriate country. 217.43.17.148 (talk) 13:26, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sequel

edit

I would just like to bring up the topic of the sequel as no one has. I have seen that on numeours websites that the sequel is not happening as most of the cast members stating that they would not do one. I have also heard that they planned to due a sequel but cover another bands material. Other than that I think that more research would have to be done to find answers. I would just interested to see if anyone else has heard anything on the topic as well. Headstrong 345 (talk) 00:28, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Headstrong 345Reply

30 Rock episode

edit

I think there should be some mention of the 30 Rock episode "Mamma Mia" which has a plot based on the film and explicitly mentions this film. __meco (talk) 16:51, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Have any third-party sources taken note of it? Doniago (talk) 17:45, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Outdated Box Office Records

edit

I'm not really qualified to make a change like this, so I'm just bringing this to the attention of someone who knows how to cite the new material properly. The Box Office section talks about the film as being the most successful British-made film and the highest-grossing film in the UK. Skyfall has broken both of those records, though the info is already wrong in that it doesn't agree with the other, better-cited article ranking the most successful films in the UK, of which Mama Mia is 6th. I don't know if, because it isn't even in the top 3 anymore, this part of the box office section should be deleted entirely. It's up to whoever wants to go to the trouble of editing this.

Thanks,

Mike

Mamma Mia is remake

edit

The musical that the film Mamma Mia is based on was itself based on the 1968 movie Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell, as is mentioned in the Gina Lollobrigida Wikipedia entry. The similarities between the two are too much to be co-incidence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.52.225.148 (talk) 18:42, 28 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I see an unsourced claim in Gina Lollobrigida and nothing to support this at Mamma Mia!. Until sourcing is provided, ideally at both articles, I'm personally not inclined to edit this article. I will tag the information at Gina Lollobrigida though. DonIago (talk) 18:53, 28 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Both movies have a strikingly similar premise and have the same central plot device to drive the story and comedy.
The claim is unsourced, but the similarity is a fact.
Therefore the resemblance should at least be mentioned including a reference to the wikipedia article "Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbel" movie. 86.253.133.98 (talk) 22:28, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Plot summary word count?

edit

WP:FILMPLOT recommends that plot summaries be between 400-700 words. I'm generally a strong proponent of this guideline, but am not sure it's feasible or necessarily advisable for this film, given that it's a musical (simply including the song titles leads to a significant increase in word-count). If other editors want to take a pass at shortening the summary, I'm hardly going to object, but in this case I'd like to propose that we reach a consensus to waive the guideline, with the stipulation that the word count should remain under 800 words. Thoughts? DonIago (talk) 14:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Rita Wilson

edit

Hey, are we sure Rita Wilson made a cameo at the end? I've seen the movie 1,000 times & still haven't seen her to this day. -- 173.76.125.181 (talk) 19:31, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

They are present in the film, when Sophie guides her guests to the barn. But it is not mentioned anywhere. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.139.161.224 (talk) 21:11, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Box office

edit

I'm genuinely confused and want to know about this film's box office claims. I’ve noticed that the movie "Mamma Mia!" made $694.6 million worldwide, but the link linked to that claim, claims $611 million. More forward, top 10 grossing films of 2008 claims that the movie indeed did made 611 million worldwide but "Box office" on the page still claims 694.6 but all the links claims differently. How did it come up with 694.6 and if it did made this much, this would’ve make it 3rd highest grossing film of 2008. !!!!!!!! SatelliteChange (talk) 13:48, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The change to $694 was made by an IP and, as it doesn't match the provided source, I have reverted it. DonIago (talk) 14:13, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
