Fair use rationale for Image:MaltaPassportCover.jpg

edit

Image:MaltaPassportCover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Use of British Maltese passport pic

edit

(Moved here from my talk page. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 12:02, 10 December 2019 (UTC))Reply

Regarding the addition of the British Malta passport to the article, sorry, you might think that its unjustifiable. But, its not. I looked at other passports ( India, HK, Malaysia and Australia ), they have photos of the British passports in those articles too.129.127.32.138 (talk) 05:31, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@129.127.32.138: Thank you for coming to discuss the issue on my talk page, but please note that rather than reverting another editor's revert, you should always go to the talk page of the article in question, to discuss rather than instigate an edit war.
With regard to your changes, I am going to revert again, partly because you introduced a formatting error with the citation, and partly for reasons which I'll explain here. As it stands, this article is about the passport of Malta since 1974, i.e. the Republic of Malta. There is no history of Malta in the article or reference to earlier passports, nor even a mention of Britain in the body of the article. You have cited the articles about Indian passports (which includes a History section, with relevant passport photos alongside), Hong Kong passports (ditto - although I have just done a bit of reorganisation of sections and pics for clarity there), Malaysian passports (the text relates to the photos), and Australian passports (no historical pictures, just different types of current ones). I've just done a bit of a cleanup of this article now, as you will see. Feel free to ask any questions if you don't understand the rationale I've explained here for why the photo should not be included. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 12:02, 10 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. Again, I've put the photo back, because there are some lines written about that, in the article. Just like the Hong Kong passport, Indian passport, etc.129.127.32.138 (talk) 04:49, 19 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please do not put the photo back. You do not appear to have understood the reasons I have outlined above. If you keep insisting on your changes, I'm afraid that it will have to be reported to admins. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 07:05, 19 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
You do not appear to understand my reply. 129.127.32.138 (talk) 02:38, 23 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
