The result of the move request was: Not moved. Common names are still widely used here, and there does not seem to be any ambiguity as to which species is designated by the name. The numerical vote is against making this change. Whether to use common or scientific names is a perennial issue, and an across-the-board decision seems unlikely. You would need a targeted argument relating to this species. EdJohnston (talk) 17:59, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Malagasy mountain mulletAcentrogobius therezieni – Common name of Malagasy mountain mullet only appears in IUCN page, not recorded as being a common name on FishBase. In addition naming pages after common names should not be policy as common names can differ considerably on a regional basis. Divingpetrel (talk) 14:52, 26 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose IUCN looks like as good an authority as any, also abandoning using common names is a pretty drastic change which needs broader discussion. PatGallacher (talk) 23:52, 31 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per PatGallacher. If it makes you feel any better, WP:FLORA is much more resistant to common names. --BDD (talk) 17:53, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
