i'd like to learn more about finland.
right now, i'm doing more research on sweden, though.
from what i can tell, it looks like the hypothetical speakers of the hypothetical proto-germanic language would have lived somewhere in this general area. --Gringo300 04:18, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

- In reality no one knows and many are guessing, there are no written sources on mainland Finland from the time before the year 1000 except one finding of a rune stone in Nokia and 3 i Vörå [Pörnullbacken] (plus some runes on an viking age comb there too), a sort of runes in proto uralic have also been found just north west of today's Moscow. Through genetic research they have found that most of the gene pool is from Europe (around 75%) MoRsE 17:28, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Correction, it was a sort of jewellry with an inscription, not a comb [1] (see "arkivet")(and that one was dated to the beginning of the 1100's. This is a bad picture of one of the rune stones [2] (see "dokumentering"), another piece of jewellry found there [3] (see "vandringsleder"). One of the runestones was dated to the 750's if I remember correctly, the other ones 900-1000 (I have the book at home, but here's a nice page about the findings ), due to the type of runes used.
