Religion edit

In the Early life and family section, this sentence: "Mahesh Bhatt claims himself an atheist." has three sources. [1] is an interview with his son, Rahul Bhatt, in which Rahul said, "My father is an atheist, whereas I believe in God." [2] is a tweet from Soni Razdan saying, "I'm half Kashmiri Pandit and Half German..also an atheist and have not imposed any faith on my kids". [3] is a tweet from Pooja Bhatt saying, "Wrong reference unfortunately since Soni Razdan is not Rahul Bhatt's mother and neither is she a practicing Muslim." So the two tweets have nothing to do with Mahesh Bhatt and the interview is not Mahesh claiming himself an atheist; it is his son claiming he is an atheist. In the Personal life section, the claim that he converted to Islam has one source. [4] includes no such information. I have therefore removed the unsourced religion claims from the article. --Geniac (talk) 16:46, 7 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Well here are some sources. he has himself acknowledged his conversion. He has served as a spokesperson for the Muslim community.

I am hoping someone will edit the article using these sources. Also see Talk:Mahesh_Bhatt#His_religious_view below Malaiya (talk) 22:14, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Legacy section edit

I am inclined towards completely removing this section because: (a) It is completely unsourced, (b) contains loads of fan-pov and peacock terms, (c) it was added by Hell With Arun, who has a history of adding fanpov and unsourced material into articles.- Managerarc talk 22:36, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I tend to agree. It's entirely unsourced and also reeks of promoting the subject by association For instance, are we trying to suggest that Bhatt was responsible for Juhi Chawla's Filmfare award for Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke? According to the section, pretty much anyone he hired, he "mentored".
"Bhatt has frequently cast major names including..." "Bhatt has also given breakthrough to many stars..." Okay, and? He's a major Indian film director. Surely he's going to cast major names and hire nobodies who will eventually become known actors. I'm not sure what article Hell With Arun used as his model, but this needs to be removed until it can be presented in some sort of meaningful, academic way. It just comes off as someone's personal effusive rant about Bhatt. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:34, 11 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

His religious views edit

Mahesh Bhatt's views on religion are quite significant. He and his family members have commented about that frequently. His family is an excellent example of a family with multiple religions, sometime coexisting harmoniously and sometimes with conflicts. Perhaps someone will add a section on it.

"Apparently Bhatt saab wanted to name you Mohammed when you were born?" "Yeah, that’s what Mr Mahesh Bhatt wanted to call me. But then my anglo-Indian mother put her foot down on the insistence of her Maharashtrian neighbours arguing that he should keep his notions of secularism for some other occasion. And besides, if Mr Bhatt thinks of himself as a good Muslim, he should’ve treated all his children equally." "But Bhatt saab’s mom was Muslim?" "She was. But I had no interaction with that side of my family...."..

"One of Shireen’s last wishes to Mahesh, her elder son, was for a Muslim burial. He fulfilled her wish, but not without resistance from the rest of the family, who, like Shireen, felt secure in conforming to their Hindu identity. Nanabhai Bhatt came to see her as she was being given her last rites, put sindoor on her forehead, a sign that a woman is married, and tulsi in her mouth, thus claiming her as his wife in death."

I agree they are significant since he converted religion, but for some reason there seems to be editors determined to keep that from the article. Despite the multitude of sources that confirmed he had an Islamic wedding and he and Soni converted religion. --Serial wiki user (talk) 21:50, 10 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
