Sites listing Barry as a speaker, such as Captive Audience, say that she has an ONZM for services to broadcasting from 1997. I have been unable to find a more authoritative source for this. The New Zealand Order of Merit was established in 1996, but the first online list is for Queen's Birthday Honours 1997. There is a Mrs Myra Margaret Barry there, but as Maggie Barry has never been married that may be a different person. She does not appear in New Year's Honours 1998 (which was released on the last day of 1997), so presumably she must be in the New Year's Honours 1997.-gadfium 03:37, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I wrote to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (they look after the honours system) and got the following response:
- "I am writing in response to your e-mail on 1 December 2011, see below for the details of Ms Barry's honour:
- Ms Margaret Mary Barry, ONZM
- Queen's Birthday 1996
- Appointed on Officer of The New Zealand Order of Merit
- 1996 Queen's Birthday Honours now on the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet website - listed as "For services to broadcasting" Paora (talk) 10:04, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
