When's it coming out?

Hey, it says on the article that it will come out on the 7th of November, but somewhere else it says the 8th. When is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.136.128.225 (talk) 02:12, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Isn't it the name of the film Madagascar: The Crate Escape. Tyw7, formerly Troop350 (talk) 08:09, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

No, it is Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. They must have changed after they released the teaser trailer with Ben Stiller because they wanted a better title. talk 23:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Removal of Plot

The movie is currently only in the storyboard process as of right now, so a plot has not been fully revealed. The plot that was on the page appeared to be fabricated by a user that has done similar type plots to other shows and movies. As of right now, this plot should be removed until it is officialy announced by the film. --Nehrams2020 02:52, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

-- I agree, its also pretty badly written 84.71.28.1

I came here to explain that it should not be readded without a source. Remember to be bold and remove it if it's bull. Atropos 03:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree, it should not be added until dreamworks or a credible source has announced the official plot on their website (With a link to where it was exactly announced) -G Hrsn

Coming Soon has a plot up that Ben Stiller confirmed.[1] -24.92.46.16 18:58, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

And how often is that site right?

The new plot summary sounds more like a teaser advt. Do you think it's okay to keep it? LeaveSleaves (talk) 13:59, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

It is not OK to cut and paste complete text from another site - that is a copyright violation against Wiki policy. It is OK to read, understand then create a summary of what it said in your own words with a reference to where you got the info. --NrDg 18:18, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Teaser Poster

I found a teaser poster online. Would someone mind uploading it to Wikipedia? I try to but it doesn't work for me. Thanks! Here's the link: [2] --Jak 21:52, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Amy Adams

I removed Amy Adams from the cast. Haven't found anything about her involvement or her character. If I am mistaken, please re-add it and also find a source. Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 02:42, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

2 things

a) this plot summary sounds like garbage!

b) that link at the bottom, it should only be linked on the madagascar 2 bit of it, not the full thing with the 'on's and the 'the's etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.183.183.51 (talk) 12:59, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

New Title?

Look at this http://www.trademork.com/madagascar-escape-2-africa/ Benzy19 11 March 2008 (UTC)

That is a little too fuzzy to indicate a title change just yet. Looks like something being considered but not necessarily decided yet. IMDB info on future projects is fed by the studios so is most likely to be most up to date. No need to hurry on this. Suggest not renaming until we get more information. --NrDg 15:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

SAW A WORKING FILMING OF THE FILM TODAY 26APR2008

Was able to see a working version of the film today in Seattle, WA. They did a screening that was a combination of storyboard, primitive animation, and finished animation. Movie was great and the storyline noted is about right on. They were asking a lot of questions about the end. Basically the boy (lion) goes back to NY and his family goes back home, which I think is a wierd way to end. The film was really funny ! They had some references that were a bit too 'over' the heads of most kids, and probably a few adults. (like does everyone know that Fosse is a coorographer, dancer ?)

Overall, great film ... cant wait to see a finished copy.

Animators Went too far...

I remember some of the stuff on the DVD for the first movie that had to do with Gloria. It was not supposed to be in a kid's movie.

Now, look at the trailers, and even the WEB SITE, and I think the animators have gone too far. It seems that they are making Gloria secretly needing attention, and that she can only get it through showing off her ... big part. I don't think any of us should watch this movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.119.25.70 (talk) 11:15, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

  • DreamWorks went too far NOW? You didn't think the humor in Shrek, or even ANTZ, was just a bit too mature for children back then? I don't believe they never changed their sense of humor! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.227.159.15 (talk) 19:51, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh come ON!

Bernie Mac's dedication is an important note! I can name other films with dedications that are also mentioned on articles here. If not on the top of the page, it should be mentioned elsewhere at least. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.227.159.15 (talk) 23:07, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

No, it is not an important note. The only relevance his death would have is if it actually interfered with the filming, which there are no sourced statements showing that it did. Dedications have no place in any film article unless it actually had an impact on the film's production or release in some way. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 23:11, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Opening Weekend

I have some trouble about the film's box office opening at $63 million. First off, it beat its precessdor's box office opening which was at $47 million. But that's not the problem. Earlier this year, "Kung Fu Panda" beat "Shark Tale"'s record for the highest box office opening for a non-sequel DreamWorks animated film. Now "Madagascar 2" beat "Kung Fu Panda"'s record, but it's a sequel. Now I can state that Madagascar 2 is the third highest box office opening for a DreamWorks sequel behind "Shrek 2" and "Shrek the Third". Let me know. talk 23:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure I get what your question about the article is? The figure comes from a reliable source. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:45, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Domestic gross and references in the infobox

Collectonian, I see no rules that state that domestic gross does not belong in the Film infobox and I see nothing that states that references should not be put in the infobox. It sometimes makes sense to have references in the infobox and I have seen many featured wikipedia articles (for both films and technical articles) which included references in the infobox. I am willing to listen to why you believe that that the domestic gross should not be put in the Film infobox but unless you can show otherwise do not remove references from the infobox. --GrandDrake (talk) 12:24, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

The Lion King and other similarities

I don't know about Joe vs. The Volcano or Happy Feet, but it seems that this film was paying homage to Lion King, rather than possibly ripping it off. Are there any sources that show this (or disprove it)? I find it a little far-fetched that the executives spent so much time writing the storyline and never realised that the plot had the slightest similarities to said film—but that's just me. Any assistance would be appreciated, —Mizu onna sango15Hello! 04:07, 28 November 2008 (UTC).

Well, none that I can find of. I really don't think the writers would try to plagarize ideas from The Lion King,Joe vs. The Volcano, and Happy Feet. But they did anyway and possibly got away with it. But if you watch the film, and the films it compares to, it'll be a dead giveaway. But Mizu onna sango15, it compares to Joe vs. the Volanco because a New Yorker (Melman) wants to sacrifice himself for the love of a girl (Gloria) and Happy Feet because a father (Zuba) is ashamed for his son's (Alex) love for dancing. It's there and the writers just took it. talk 02:14, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Ennio Morricone

Did Hans Zimmer sample Ennio Morricone's music from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly for the soundtrack of that movie? The scene I mean is the one where the old lady kicks the a** of Alex. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JonStryker (talkcontribs) 18:50, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Unencylopaedic language

This may be an American film and therefore described mainly by Americans but "kicked his butt" does not belong in any serious encyclopaedia. Have changed it to "engaged violently with him"; others can amend, but please, no butts. OperationOverlord (talk) 03:35, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Seriously, what is wrong with this plot?

I am not a registered member for various reasons....and the plot summary for this sounds like it's written by a 10year old trying to sound intelligent.

The english in this is very juvenial. I'm going to ignore the obvious poor english and point out some things which should be in here.

"he washes ashore in a pre 9/11 New York" - Okay? why and how do we know this is pre-9/11 new york? Furthermore...WHY? do we need to know. it's not relevant.

  • We know it's pre-9/11 for the blatantly obvious reason that the twin towers are visible! It's relevant only insofar as establishing that the scene is taking place in the past. Lee M (talk) 01:46, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

"First,Private stands on an x .When the car hits Private,he puts red paint on his body, a small bone and breaks an egg.The second etape is time to the 3 penguins get into the car. The third etape is one of the humans blows into Privates body to make him fly like a ballon and get into the car" - Okay? one: whoever wrote this sounds like they're trying to publish a bad book. A plot doesnt need EVERY detail.

You know what? Im just gonna stop, but seriously, I would be very much greatful if someone were to correct, this..OR better yet, totally rewrite it.

this article is an insult to wikipedia —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.199.74.26 (talk) 22:58, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, the plot needs work. One reason this article is rather messed up it the repeated vandalism by a child who, after being banned, keeps returning with a new account or, for one reason or another, without an account. Thanks for the input. - SummerPhD (talk) 18:42, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Other voices (dubs and video games)

I hear that soccer star Patrick Kluivert is one of the voices in the Dutch dub of this movie. He voices Bobby, one of the American tourists, right? I went to the Dutch page about the movie to find this. 71.80.163.73 (talk) 17:01, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Track 7 on soundtrack is Chums, performed by Heitor Pereira, not Hans Zimmer as listed. This is from the booklet that came with the cd itself. All the other info for the soundtrack looks correct. Thanks!

I will change it for you, as it seems that none of the current soundtrack information has a reference. Thank you. Chevymontecarlo. 06:23, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Stevie

If I remember correctly, in the theatrical version King Julien says that stevie says to "let them eat cake", however in the dvd version he says a non-sensical mash of words. just thought it might be interesting to note in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.255.58.85 (talk) 14:34, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Plane and Melman-Gloria

If I'm not mistaken, Gloria and Melman get married at the end. Also, at the beginning, I think the skeleton in the plane was Amelia Earhart. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.14.182.33 (talk) 14:50, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Pacific Data Images was renamed PDI/DreamWorks after DreamWorks acquired it. Is that studio credited as "PDI/DreamWorks" in this film? 2607:FEA8:761B:C900:801C:B322:B4F0:F9BB (talk) 19:46, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
