First name basis?

i find referring to her by her first name only to be stylistically odd. this is an encyclopaedia. is the writer a personal acquaintance? last name only i could understand, but this seems like someone writing to a friend about another friend. what if one was writing the entry on john wayne. would he be referred to as 'john'? See below. She has been using only her given name for about 20 years. As a child actress, she was credited as Maïwenn Le Besco, but she discontinued using her family name and is now only credited as Maïwenn. She actually insisted on the fact that she disliked journalists to use her family name. Jean-Jacques Georges (talk) 12:55, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
