New company
MG Motor UK (formerly NAC MG UK) is a new company created by NAC, now part of SAIC, to build MGs. This new company, which although it does does use the MG marque, is not the same company as the one that the MG Cars article is about. -- de Facto (talk). 21:17, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Merge with MG Cars
I personally feel that this article would be better merged with MG Cars and was wondering what other editors think. To me it seems counter-intuitive, inconsistent and duplicative to split the MG marque between two articles. Land Rover, Bentley, Jaguar Cars, Aston Martin, Vauxhall Motors and Lotus Cars all have just one article despite their various changes of ownership and corporate structures. I know that there are separate articles for Mini and Mini (BMW) but in that case there is a clear distinction between a single model and the marque which has been created by BMW.
Unlike Mini, MG has always been a marque and it makes sense to have the story of the MG marque in one article. I can understand that some people may feel that the SAIC MGs are not 'real' MGs, but in my view they are no less MGs than the MG Metro, Maestro, and Montego produced by Austin Rover Group or the MG ZR, ZS and ZT produced by MG Rover Group.
The counter-intuitive nature of the article split is in my view confirmed by the fact that a number of details of the Nanjing/SAIC era have been added to the opening and history sections of MG Cars by various editors, despite the article currently saying 'This article is about the defunct MG Car Company and the MG marque it founded. For the present day SAIC UK subsidiary see MG Motor UK' at the top. I would be interested to hear others views on this. Rangoon11 (talk) 20:17, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
My Advise
In my opinion，there should be 2 articles about the "MG",
1, MG (MG Motor UK Limited) : Car manufacturer, introduction of the current COMPANY which produces cars under the MG marque.
2, MG (car brand)：History of the MARQUE，it's previous owners (William R Morris→Morris Motors Limited→British Motor Corporation→ British Motor Holdings→British Leyland Motor Corporation→British Leyland→Rover Group→British Aerospace→BMW→MG Rover Group→NAC→SAIC) and introduction of all the models from 1924 to current.
