Talk:Mérida, Spain

Pronunciation edit

Could someone explain how the name of this town is pronounced?

http://www.cyclingforums.com/showthread.php?t=195487&page=2&pp=15 suggests he proper pronunciation would be meeh-ri-da as in the Spanish language the stress would be on the "e". The Spanish spelling of Merida has an accent over the e meaning the e is stressed.

The American Heritage Dictionary, has Mé·ri·da (mĕr'ĭ-də, mĕ'rē-dä) presumeably American English and proper Spanish, but

In the Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition

Mérida (mā'rēthä)

What's going on?

Teatro Romano edit

The reference here is not to roman theatres in general the THEE Teatro Romano. Hence, should pertaing to that specific edifice and be in italics. I'll put a link in there for now. Kristinwt (talk) 04:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • That picture right there on the page of the UNESCO World Heritage Site (Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida) is the Teatro Romano. That's the specific location I mean. Somehow needs to be linked up but there's not WP article on it. Kristinwt (talk) 05:01, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
