More info

edit

More info could probably be added from M. Elizabeth Bartlet's edition of the score (Pendragon Press, 1990). --Folantin (talk) 16:02, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Assessment

edit

I've assessed this C class for the moment. While it is true that it is a rare opera and this articles covers the basics (albeit some of it via direct quotes from sources), it can be expanded with material in:

  • Listening in Paris: A Cultural History by James H. Johnson, University of California Press, 1996
  • Etienne-Nicolas Méhul and opera: source and archival studies of lyric theatre during the French Revolution, Consulate and Empire, Volume 1, by Mary Elizabeth Caroline Bartlet, Musik-Edition Galland, 1999
  • The Rise of Romantic Opera, by Edward J. Dent, CUP 1979 (already cited in the article)
  • Le Ménestrel 1884
