Mock Castle
editThe term "mock castle" about this early Jacobean building is probably architecturally inappropriate. Mock castles are preeminently a 19th century confection. This one is also too early, too practical and too large to be regarded as an 18th century folly. I have therefore deleted the mock castle category. In reality it was built as a fortified hunting lodge, and given the era of warring, it was occupied by the Roundheads as a garrison. Nothing mock about that.--Po Mieczu (talk) 19:06, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- Tend to agree. Did you know there was a GWR Collett Castle Class locomotive named after it? Martinevans123 (talk) 21:38, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
