First award of VC
editThe article notes : "The VC did not exist at the time of O'Connor's endeavours, but so memorable were they that he was the first to be awarded the VC." This is confusing as Charles Lucas is generally credited as being the first recipient of the VC.
Does the article mean that O'Conner was the first person on whom Queen Victoria pinned the VC at the Hyde Park Ceremony, was he the first to be approved an Gazetted or should it read 'among the first' indicating that he was in that first group?
