Religion in infobox edit

luis de Santangel is not a jew, because he is baptized christian, so you would only place him as a Jew if he Practises Judaism. 91.104.1.90 (talk) 00:26, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

He was baptized under the inquisition. As his bio states, he and his family were granted protection from the inquisition because of his service to Ferdinand. This would indicate that he and his family were not true Christians and therefore needed protection from the inquisition. I'm removing the religion from the infobox, because without other sources, it is not completely clear. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 01:39, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is not a jew, the jew was your grandfather Azarias Ginillo>Luís de Santangel, senior; the jr. was converso. See ca:Lluís de Santàngel or es:Luis de Santángel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.43.141.196 (talk) 09:34, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

There's not a single source for his family being conversos. I'm sorry but Jewish American Encyclopedia is not a reliable source and a book called Columbus' Jewish Roots is no doubt being written with an agenda in mind. It's so ridiculous that seemingly every significant Iberian of the Renaissance was somehow secretly a Jew when there's probably no hard proof that any of them were.
