POV 2008
editThe article cited for reference one seems to cast him in a rather negative light. Is there any other source of this information? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.245.57 (talk) 03:28, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
POV 2010
editThe following explanation for adding a WP:POV tag in 2010 was given on my user talk page. Fayenatic (talk) 17:28, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- [the POV template] refers to the fact that the article portrays him as a liberal out-of-the-box preacher, which is debatable, and that he has been involved in some controversies that are not even mentioned. --camr nag 00:36, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- So, debate it (here on the talk page) and mention them (with sources)! I wrote most of the article, and I really have no opinion of the guy one way or the other -- just tried to summarize what I found in the various sources I found. For now, I'm going to remove the neutrality banner -- it's been up there for over a year, without any specific critique of the article forthcoming. -Pete (talk) 15:31, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
Here's my take on POV. The article appears to dwell rather excessively on his relevance to the Portland metro area. This makes no sense, as fellow editors have insisted to me for years that what's notable on a local level isn't necessarily relevant to Wikipedia's global audience. Barring a more reasonable explanation, I can only assume that this disconnect is due to the fact that WP Oregon is very active, whereas the state-level WP where I live has been moribund for years.
Is this emphasis occurring at the expense of mentioning things which may be relevant to a more general audience? The reason I found this article is due to CityFest, a festival held here in Fairbanks just two days ago and headlined by tobyMac. Lots of really nice Christian folks encouraged me to attend. I wasn't able to, but I did get the opportunity to speak to Andrew Palau when he appeared on KFAR last week to promote the event. Anyway, the story in the local paper mentioned that Palau's ministry puts together a good handful of these festivals across the United States every year. That sure sounds to me like something which is more relevant to a general audience than a lot of what I did read in the article. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 11:57, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
