Note about relevancy of performances edit

Previously, this article contained a very long table of performances. Please do not add this back, as it is against the "What Wikipedia is not" policy, in particular "Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information". See also the explanatory supplement WP:TOOMUCH.

What is acceptable, on the other hand, is for the article to discuss a few of her most relevant performances, specifically those that are often mentioned in articles about her. When assessing relevance, please follow what independent, reliable sources find relevant enough to talk about in their discussions of this dancer.

Hi PJvanMill, thank you for editing this page! In other ballet dancer biographies, there are similar lists of roles performed, though I tend to trim these lists down to more significant ones. I think a similar list should be included here, though it shouldn’t include every single role she did. Corachow (talk) 22:14, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Corachow. The trouble is in what performances qualify as "significant". I am suggesting we simply leave that judgement up to the sources, rather than try to determine that ourselves. If you have another potential set of criteria, though, I would like to hear it. As long as there are some criteria for inclusion that are somewhat restrictive, I think it's fine. Kind regards from PJvanMill (talk) 18:58, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi PJvanMill, I usually go with productions with pages (or at least a redirect), originated roles, roles the dancer performed in cinema relays and "notable roles" mentioned in media profiles, though sometimes I add a few more that the company seems to revive quite often, which I guess I should make a clear definition. Corachow (talk) 00:21, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Corachow. When you say "productions with pages", do you mean the ballet piece has a page or the specific rendition of the piece by a particular ballet group has its own page? Also, I would probably exclude redirects, because anyone can make a redirect without having to provide justification. I'm fine with using a "notable roles" list from a media profile, but not if the list includes more than 20 roles. Other than that, I think your criteria are good. Kind regards from PJvanMill (talk) 15:12, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi PJvanMill, I am referring to ballet pieces with their pages, not specific rendition. For classical productions like Swan Lake or The Nutcracker, most companies have their own rendition but usually fall under the ballet piece's main page, as there are far too many versions. I think you're criteria sounds great! I will use that in my future edits. Also, I plan to expand this page later with other sources I found that are not referenced here. Corachow (talk) 15:36, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Corachow. Great to hear you've found more sources! When you say that my criteria sound great, do you mean the "whatever the sources are saying" criterion? Kind regards from PJvanMill (talk) 15:52, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi PJvanMill, I mean the criteria of listing "notable roles," though I usually use the term "selected repertoire" as a lot of pages use this term. Corachow (talk) 15:59, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Corachow. One more thing: whether a performance is something the reader would want to know about will depend not only on how well-known the piece itself is, but also on the role the dancer plays in it. I think performances where the dancer played only a minor role should be excluded, with the article on the piece probably being a good resource on which roles are minor and which are major.
