Luc MeluaLuc Méloua – I could find no sources that attest to the use of this spelling and as per WP:COMMONNAME we should use the name that is used in most sources and as per WP:FRENCHNAMES his name should have the French accent in it. When carrying out a search for the spelling used in the article all I could find were mirror sites and references to this article. Domdeparis (talk) 12:23, 30 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support he was born in France and French all his life, so cannot see why his name should be corrected to a Georgian spelling that isn't evident in books. Looks like we've sown this misspelling on other websites, as nom notes. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:23, 30 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
@In ictu oculi: Thanks for the support but now you have created the page Méloua page as a redirect here how can the move be made without requesting a deletion? Wouldn't it have been better to wait to close the discussion and then move the page there and leave this one as a redirect? Dom from Paris (talk) 10:02, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I don't know how it works on fr.wp, but the software on en.wp is such that a single edit redirect can be overwritten by any user with more than 10 edits. Creating the redirect helps to ensure that there are no unforseen problems. I would say that you could reasonably close this RM now and implement as WP:FR is uncontroversial in this case. Thanks for that. The only time I've tried that kind of move there were several edits already and that was what blocked me I suppose. I did leave a courtesy message on the page's creator but they seem to be inactive now.--Dom from Paris (talk) 10:43, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
