Talk:Lowitz arc

This article, like the research on Lowitz arcs, is a work in progress.

• One problem is that I haven't yet found clear definitions of Lowitz arcs by professional investigators -- possibly because the investigators don't yet have enough photographs of Lowitz arcs to develop clear definitions.
• Another problem is that this article really requires photographs and diagrams of Lowitz arcs, but I haven't yet found any in the public domain. Photographs of Lowitz arcs are rare because the phenomenon itself is rare, and it's hard to draw a diagram of something when the professional investigators haven't yet decided how it should appear. In lieu of illustrations within the article itself, I've added an extensive list of Web sites that contain photos or diagrams of Lowitz arcs. Les Cowley's "Atmospheric Optics" Web site is particulary good.

Also, because the mechanism by which Lowitz arcs are created, is still disputed, I've added an extensive "Further reading" list, so that readers can learn what others have thought about the mechanism.
