Largest?
edit- Atacama Large Millimeter Array: " ... to build the largest astronomical project in existence".
- LOFAR: "LOFAR will be the largest radio telescope ever built".
"Largest" in terms of what? Area? Number of telescopes? Money spent? Now, who's right? 145.53.180.22 (talk) 16:17, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- As far as collecing area, it seems ALMA has about 7000 m^2, while LOFAR has up to 300,000 m^2 effective collection area. But there are other metrics for "Largest telescope", like baseline length, where things like the VLBA, EVN and space-based VLBI missions clearly get bigger numbers.
- Then there are those that add things like "in continuous operation", which excludes things like the EVN, because it only operates a couple of months a year.
- But I think LOFAR can at least claim "Largest Telescope" in the collecting area department. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdriaanRenting (talk • contribs) 10:53, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
Prototype antenna image
editI've replaced this prototype image with an image of the LBA current design. If at some point a 'history' section is added, it might be nice to add it there. anoko_moonlight (talk) 10:23, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

How and when is data transported
editHow and when is data transported ? - Is/was it by magnetic tape cartridge ? Has it been upgraded ? Can historical data be reanalysed ? - Rod57 (talk) 13:39, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

Low-Frequency Array (LOFAR) → Low-Frequency Array – Avoid WP:Name (acronym). I thought I had cleaned up all of these months ago, but apparently not. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:08, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
